Antique Justrite Brass Carbide Miner Lantern / Early Mining Lamp w/ Reflector
Antique JUSTRITE Brass Carbide Miner Lantern w/ Reflector If there is no bid in this item in the first 24 hours we reserve the right to end the auction. This is a nice antique miner lamp that is in great shape. This miner lamp measures approx 4" tall. The reflector is 2 1/2" in diameter. The brass lamp is in great shape. With only a couple very tiny dents on the side from years of use. The carbide is still in the bottom part, and we will leave it for the high bidder to decide what they want to do with it. The top and bottom screw together good. But the top sits a little forward when screwed on. The rubber( fitting(gasket? that is between the top and bottom is old and a little stiff and dry, but it is in one piece. See picture 11. The top is stamped with"Made in USA" Pat No. 115123" JUSTRITE" and"ON/OFF" ... morewith arrows. The filler cap on the top opens and closes nicely and is good and tight. The lamp has the piece that hooks onto a hard hat that the miners wore when working. The reflector is in good shape but does have a little wear and some light rusting there the finish is worn off. And a tiny bit on the back. The wheel on the reflector is hard to turn, but does turn. This reflector is magnetic. The bottom is stamped"United States of America" This would make an excellent addition to a lamp collection. We also have another very similar miners lamp ending 5 minutes after this one. Great chance to bid on a ECCLES Miners Lamp Style 6# 107. Heavy brass base and tin top with brass hook. Plate on front also has 8/28 on it. So this could indicate date, but I am not an expert on these things and that is just my guess. Look older than that so it may just be an id number of sorts. Glass globe/chimney is stamped British with some numbers and has no chips or cracks. Approx. 9" tall not including hook. This piece was obviously well used as it has dents and dings( see photos) but it has a great patina and will be a nice addition to any collection. So don't let it get away! A miners Carbide Lamp from about 1912. Has been in storage for decades and looks never to have been used. Lamp fixes to helmet with leather strap and gas producer fits on belt. Twin lens and cover. Black paint has chipped in places. Leather strap starting to crack, Carbide holder shows some age cracks. Reservoir belt loop missing as is the chimney top of the light. Reservoir has never seen water or Carbide chips and the original label was still inside. Rubber pipe is missing. Antique JUSTRITE Mining Lantern up for auction! Stamped PAT APLD FOR. Glass is in good overall condition with no cracks or chips. The glass does have forming lines and bubbles from when it was manufactured. There are a couple of dents on the bottom base. The focal lens is missing and there is a part on the inside for operation that is also missing. The seal around the top of the base also has a crack in it. These are fairly rare to find though and would make a great addition to anyone's collection! Measures approximately 8 1/2" tall. 16" tall to the top of the handle, and 4 1/8" across the bottom base.

It was oil-burning but has since been converted to electric, which is brilliant because as I learned the hard way, burning oil smells like nightmares. Fantastic clanny style davy lamp marked HUGHES BROS. MAKER SCRANTON PA. Also stamped with A American Flag Eagle with Arrows not sure if it was military because of that stamp. Purchased at a estate sale close to Gold and Coal Mines This davy safety lamp was manufactured by the Hughes Brothers of Scranton. Pennsylvania in the latter half of the 19th century. This Clanny style safety lamp employs a wire gauze and a glass globe surrounding the wick to protect the flame. Safety lamps were invented in the early 19th century. It appears to be used but in great condition. I do not know if it works has been cleaned and has no wick and is being sold as is.But looks like with a wick it would work fine. Vtg ANTIQUE 1890s 1900s MINING Early Electrical Industrial Safety Lantern Lamp Description& Condition Very early Antique Industrial Cast Iron Mining Early Electrical Safety Lantern Lamp. Appears to be a very early cast iron mining lamp and still has its original lightbulb intact and surrounding glass is not chipped or cracked. Lamp does show some moderate areas of oxidation and rust powder on the interior. Lamp seperates in halves and still screws on easily despite that it looks like a small area has chipped off but still tightens and secures easily with no restraint. Hook hanger still seems durable. There is no company maker and the only stampings include numbers in two areas on the lamp: 446 on the base and 643 above the light bulb and glass enclosure. I haven't found many comparable mining lamps to this one in research so it's ... morepossibly a transitional piece: It may be an early version of the electrical mining lamp as they were not widely put on the market until about 1902. Yet such electrical lamps were still patented in the 1890s. I have only lightly cleaned off some of the inside interior of this lamp and does have some aged dust and should be properly cleaned. The top has a bull’s eye lens with a reflector inside. There are 2 knobs. One controls a flint to start the flame– spark lighter. There are wire guards. The carbide container has some problems. Antique/Old JUSTRITE Carbide LAMP/Lantern w/ Coal Miner's Mining Canvas HAT
Up for auction is this antique JUSTRITE coal miners lamp on a canvas hat. The hat is quite dirty from use and the lamp is uncleaned. The hat is sort of a camel tan colored canvas. It is lined in faded green soft felted like material, it has a buckle on the back to tighten the hat. There is a bit of rust on the reflector, the lamp has patina along with a bit of grime, I haven't tried to clean it. I see on the underneath of the bottom of the lamp is stamped, 10" see the last photo) As a bonus. Also included in this El Paso Expedition Gold Mines Corporation stock certificate, from the 1913's. It is torn, very creased, unsigned and not worth any stock, but interesting to see. Also included is a small old oddly expose photograph. Up for auction is this wonderful antique small coal miners lamp. It is uncleaned but looks to be in very good condition. The glass looks original and has no cracks. This lamp is about 6 1/3" tall, the hook is intact. I don't see any makers marks. But I don't know how to get the bottom off to see if there are markings on the inside rim. French Miners Lantern/Light Chemical Reaction Fuel Mining Lamp
The man I got these from said they are French(so is he) and said you put some type of chemicals inside the body of these and the reaction produced a gas which you lit and it made a flame similar to a candle-sounded possible and they are kind of neat looking so I bought them. There are no markings on either piece and I was guessing they were used by miners-the man had no idea on what they were used for so I am hoping someone may be able to send some info along as to whether I am right on the use. Some rust on the clips on the sides but overall good condition.

It looks to be complete. 24 stamped on the side of the lantern Has beautiful patina on it! Or you can use brass cleaner to return to a bright shine! I preferred to keep the patina. I picked this awesome miners lamp just today out of a shop in Ohio. I have never seen one quite like it. The condition is INCREDIBLE as you can see! The tin is marked GRIER BROS PITTSBURGH PA. I see no major problems at all. there might be a minor little age bend(very very very minor) keeping it from perfection. I just can't imagine finding a better example. If this little guy could talk. The stories it could tell! Up for auction, a wonderful Justrite nickel plated Supervisors hand-held carbide mining lamp. This was a hard working lamp that has seen some action, not just a lamp that has sat on a shelf looking pretty, and has the dings to prove it! See the pictures where it proudly and beautifully displays its battle scars. These do not distract from it's displayabilty, but rather add to it. On the bottom of the lamp are displayed the intials, CHL" and the number 31. I hate to see this lamp go, as it has been a favorite of mine lo these many years, but it's time to downsize.
