Vtg DUPONT BLASTING CAP TIN NO. 6 used in MINES by MINERS for MINING great cond
When condition is what counts take a look at this empty blasting cap tin made by Dupont. I photographed all sides of this so that you could see all the terrific information. The miners used these caps down in the mines in the old days& the tin held 100 blasting caps that had to be handled with great care. The tin is empty now. One side says. Among other things, Do not remove caps with wire or nail” Another side says“Keep open lights away” Another says“Don’t store with high explosives. This tin is in such great condition you can read every bit of information. It measures nearly 2 ½” x 2” by 1 ½” high. CONDITION: Excellent. The silver finish in the bottom inside half is worn. But the inside of the lid is shiny& perfect. The only other thing is on the lid: As you can see. There are four separate flaps turned down to fit the ... morebottom tin snugly. It’s hardly worth mentioning. But one side flap has just a bit darker wear than the others. No other outside wear or rust. Please take time to look at the other things I’m listing for auction this week. It’s a continually changing list of eclectic items I think many of you will find interesting. Most everything is vintage or antique. Right out of the attic, the closets, the drawers or my diverse collections. I keep trying to downsize. But it never seems to make a dent in my accumulations& I’ve run out of space! Keep watching. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have. I accept PayPal. Buyer prepays postage of 5.50 for this one. That includes tracking. I will notify you of the tracking number so that you can trace its progress as it is on the way to you. I will also refund any postage to your PayPal account that you have overpaid by more than fifty cents after the package has been mailed. THERE IS NEVER A HANDLING CHARGE OR A RESERVE. Thanks for looking& if you do bid– GOOD LUCK.

VINTAGE ANTIQUE MINING EQUIPMENT BLASTING CAPS TIN CONTAINER CALIFORNIA CAP CO.
ANTIQUE CALIFORNIA CAP Co. BLASTING CAP TIN CONTAINER c1906 Awesome display appeal Integrity is SOLID single dent on lower right edge of top Cap is stationary approx. 1 7/8" x 2 3/4" CALIFORNIA CAP CO- The common blasting cap evolved through the necessity of having a stronger initiating agent for nitroglycerine and high explosives than the black powder fuse which acted merely by flame. Nobel’s 1867 patent for the blasting cap was a copper shell filled with fulminate of mercury. This is essentially still the blasting cap of today. Except that later, 10% of potassium chlorate was added to the fulminate via an 1869 patent by Tal Shaffner(patent No. 98,428) The initial detonation by means of the fulminate cap of firing nitroglycerine and dynamite was of immense importance and made the use of high explosives for blasting practical. The ... morefirst common blasting caps used in America were imported from Germany. Dependence on a foreign source for caps was deemed unsatisfactory, especially on the west coast, and as a result, the first American manufacturer of blasting caps was started about 1877 by William Oliver and Freeborn Fletter. Together they built a small cap factory near Stege, CA and incorporated their business as the California Cap Company in April 1880. Fletter died in 1899 and Oliver in 1918. Following Oliver’s death, his son Roland Oliver succeeded him as president. The California Cap Company became the major supplier of blasting caps for the western U.S. for many years. It’s interesting to note that William Oliver while founding the California Cap Company also became interested in tonite, a mixture of 52.5% guncotton and 47.5% barium nitrate, which was imported from England where it was made by the Cotton Powder Company. Circa 1890’s German blasting cap tin - Sellier & Bellot - 100 triple force caps

Manufacturer of ammunition, blasting caps, and percussion caps founded in 1825 in Prague. Formerly held 100 caps of No. 3 strength. Paper label on lid with text in German: 100 Stück Zündhütchen Triples von( Qualität für Sprengstoffe. Referring to Sellier& Bellot’s plants in Prague(then Austria-Hungary, now Czech Republic) Riga(then Russia, now Latvia) and Schönebeck(then German State of Prussia, now Germany) Known to be a blasting cap tin(as opposed to a percussion cap tin) based on mention of Sprengstoffe(explosives) ... moreand the crossed hammer logo on the lid label. Since text is in German. Most likely produced at Schönebeck, which was, at the time, close to a major mining area in the Erzgebirge region. Antique CALIFORNIA CAP COMPANY Nevada Silver MIne Blasting Caps Tin Lid Cover
For auction is this very old and cool looking. Antique, Lion embossed, California Cap Company, blasting cap tin lid cover. I found this tin cover when I was treasure hunting and exploring deep, deep, inside an old abandoned silver mine in the mountains of Nevada over 35 years ago. Today, when I look back on what I did then, it scares the heck out of me to think about how dangerously stupid it was to have even gone into the old abandoned mine in the first place much less as deep as I did. Oh well, in the end, I lived and did end up finding this neat blasting cap tin cover along with an old empty wooden dynamite crate, an oil lantern, a broken pick ax, a bone handled knife and several rail spikes. Of course none of it worth losing your life over; but nevertheless nice to have in your collection. The tin's cover is made of pressed"tin" ... moreand its center is embossed with a full-mane. Standing male lion. Underneath the poised lion are the embossed words"CALIFORNIA CAP COMPANY" I did some internet research on the company and discovered that there were two variations of their lid. Of the two versions, this particular style tin cover is the earlier of the two. To that end, I believe this tin dates back to the 1890's and possibly into the very early 1900's. The other design variation is embossed with a lion standing on his rear haunches and the words"SAN FRANCISCO" underneath the image and the company name"CALIFORNIA CAP COMPANY" embossed above the lion. For your further consideration, I copied the below brief history from the internet and am including it with this items description. The first American manufacture of blasting caps was started about 1877 by William Oliver and Freeborn Fletter. Together they built a small cap factory near Stege. CA and incorporated their business as the"California Cap Company" in April 1880. Fletter died in 1899 and Oliver in 1918. Dynamite manufacturers took issue with Tonite’s claims, especially making a case that tonite had a tendency for spontaneous ignition. However, the increasing price of cotton, the decreasing price of glycerine, and the lower costs of graded dynamite led to the demise of the Tonite plant in 1885. The Tonite buildings and land were sold to the California Cap Company. After a long stretch of supplying blasting caps to the w

Nice Old-Style ATLAS Blasting Cap Tin
This is a great older style ATLAS Blasting Cap Tin! It once held 100 No.6 blasting caps to detonate explosives in the mines. Each side has clear warnings. My favorite being not to attach the caps with your teeth! I forgot to photo the inside, but its in good shape with only a bit of surface rust on the bottom. You can see the outside of the bottom in the last photo, with no rust at all.

Unusual Unmarked Gold Painted Blasting Cap Tin-Honduras Central America
Offered here is an empty tin that once likely held 100 no. 6 strength blasting caps. Tag inside reads"Blasting Cap Tin. Honduras, C.A. Measures 3.0 x 2.50 x 1.75. The exact same size and construction of a blasting cap tin that would have held 100 no. 6 blasting caps. This tin does not appear to have ever had any markings or paper adhered to it. I surmise that the seal that was once around the top edge holding the top and bottom together may have had some identifier. Acquired from a collection of blasting cap tins from a well known cap tin collector, and I do believe it to be a blasting cap tin. Thanks for looking!
