RARE Miners Oil Wick Lamp stamped "D L" and "KELTY", Vintage mining coal
This miner's oil wick lamp. From 100 years or more ago, has a stamping of"D" with"L" inside it- a well known mark. But under this is clearly stamped"KELTY" which I cannot find in any of the documentation I have. There is some stamping above the logo also. But I haven't been able to read enough to identify the word(s) Lamp, 2" base to top, has a brass ring reinforcement/trim around the base and a flat hook of 1/2" tapered to a point. The lamp has been used, has a double spout and the lid is missing. This is a collector's special, a puzzle to solve! Winning bidder is to pay $4.75 postage including Delivery Confirmation. 1860s Carbide Mining Prototype McClave Patent Coal Miners Oil Wick Lamp Light
ANTIQUE COAL MINERS OIL WICK LAMP We are offering for sale a very unique unmarked prototype miners lamp. With a little research I believe this to be an early example of the McClave. William McClave was issued one of the earliest patents for a miners oil wick cap lamp. He lived in Hyde Park Luzerne County Pennsylvania and received patent number 49.477 on August 15th 1865. His design is unique among oil wick cap lamps unlike the usual vertical straight sided or tapered cylinder font. His design had a larger diameter font. This design had the advantage of not rocking from side to side. This flatened design kept the lamp closer to the miners head than a regular style of the same size spout since it was not as deep in thickness. An unusual piece. Found in an old work shop. 19th Century Dunlap's Pittsburgh Antique Coal Miners Lantern Oil-Wick Cap Lamp
1800s Dunlap's Pittsburgh Coal Miner's Oil-wick Cap Lamp. This antique oil-wick cap lamp was worn attached to a miner's cap or hat by the hook. First used in the 1850s in Scotland as a better light source than candles. They were the used until the early 1920s. This particular lamp in stamped Dunlap's Pittsburgh on the front directly below the lid. It has wicking inside of the spout and spooled up inside the lamp as seen in the pictures. It has a lovely dark patina and is in very good condition overall. Minor pitting on one small edge on the underside of the lid, and what appears to be an old repair on the spout(rear facing side) is the only detraction. See pictures. This is the actual item you will receive. The oil-wick cap lamp measures 4" tall. 5" from hook to spout, the body is 1 1/2" in diameter. Be sure ... moreto check out my other auctions. Miners Cap, Oil Wick Lamp, Fueled by Lard and Kerosine Mixture 1850 - 1920 Solid
This is an oil wick lamp that was connected to a miners cap by the hook opposite the wick spout. These were used in the mines from 1850- 1920 when they were replaced by carbide lamps. These look primitive. But were a welcome change from the candles that were used before. The miners burnt the cheapest fuel they could, a mixture of lard and kerosene, that gave off a heavy black smoke that covered the miners inside and out with soot. This lamp has a heavy build up of soot and surface rust in areas, so any identifying marks are unreadable. It is 3 3/4 inches high, and measures 5 inches from hook tip to spout tip. The hinged lid to the fuel reservoir works well. Opens and seals shut. There are no holes or open seems and no dents. It is made of a magnetic metal. There is some wick left in the spout, and if you look inside, it looks fairly clean. ... moreI can see no reason why this old oil wick lamp couldn't be used today, for its original purpose of lighting a miners way through the mine.

Brass Caped Miners Pocket Oil Wick Lamp Refill Can
I got this with other mine items. I think it is a pocket refill can for turn of the century oil wick lamps but can not say for sure. You decide. It has a faint oil smell and a screen in the larger opening. The smaller spout is tilted but is not bent. No markings. Great condition with nice brass caps that operate smoothly. The main body is about 4.5 by 4 by 1.5 inches. Nice pocket size for the miner. Same metal and solder construction as the lamps. I have seen lots of oil wick mine lamps but ever one of these. Do not miss out on a rare item like this. You may never. See another. Add $ 9 shipping in continental 48 USA states only. No foreign sales. Posted with

Frostburg (Zais) miner's oil wick cap lamp - mining
This is a Zais brand oil wick miners lamp. The lamp is made of steel with crimped and soldered joints; it also has a double spout wall. The lamp stands 2-1/8 inches tall from the base to the top of the lid. And 2-1/2 inches to the top of the spout. The base is 1-5/8 inches in diameter. The manufacturers lettering is on the side of the lamp(photo number one) and has"FROSTBURG" and an acrostic of the name"BRUCE" in an oval shield. The Zais Company was a family owned business, and the names of family members(stamped into the lamps as unreadable acrostics) were used as a code to identify different runs of lamps as they were manufactured. This lamp has a small bend at the edge of the lid(which was probably deliberate, to make the lamp easier to open) some small dents at the base of the spout(photo number six) and a few small ... moredents on and just above the manufacturers lettering shield. There is rust inside the lamp. This lamp has no broken joints, cracks, or missing parts. The brown spots on the outside of the lamp appear to be remnants of soldering flux(photos two and four) This item will ship via USPS in a cardboard box to USA destinations only(no foreign shipping on this item)

Up for bidding is a great piece of mining history. A John Dunlap and Co. Oil Wick Lamp. These mining lamps were used in mines before the introduction of carbide lamps and well before electrical lighting. This one although hard to make out it is stamped Dunlap Pittsburgh. A few rubbed areas make me believe this is copper or copper lined.

Antique Tin Miners Oil Wick Lamp w/ Screw Top Lid
This auction is for an early miners oil wick lamp made of tin. It measures 3 1/2" to the top of the hook and has an unusual screw top lid. I don't see any markings. But you may find a name with a little cleaning. I'll let that up to the new owner. There are a couple small dings, but they are very minor. Otherwise, the condition is great with no breaks. I will be happy to combine multiple purchases to save on shipping.
