Out of a local northeastern Pennsylvania estate(the home of Anthracite Coal! Some sort of accordion style chart attached inside booklet covers. Inside reads Bore Hole No. 2. Sioux No. 1 Colliery. Shows Surface elevations and type of rock. Coal, etc. Front of booklet is marked The Lehigh Valley Coal Co. Early 1900s. Covers have some nicks, dings, surface marks, etc. Inside is a thinner type paper with the charting. Paper has some creases, discoloration, etc. All in all, it's still intact and complete. Booklet closed is about 4 1/2" x 6" Chart when opened is about 5" x 40" Brown staining also along fold lines from age. Chart is one sided. Selling in as is/ as found estate condition. This is a hard to find book dealing with coal mines at the beginning of the 20th Century. This is the second edition of this book, copyrighted in 1924. It says this edition contains much more valuable data, than the preceding one. It was written to help coal miners solve problems around the mines, like ventilation, haulage, etc. It has the formula to find out how much power it takes to mine coal at the face with equipment of that time. Vintage 1938 Cripple Creek mining district book map
You are bidding on an old map that I found in with a bunch of other maps in a tube from an estate sale in Montrose Co. I have no other info on it other it is in excellent condition. It is printed on very heavy paper. In black ink. It is kind of crinkly from the way it was poorly rolled in the tube. There is a very slight water damage that is almost not visable. The map shows the town of Cripple Creek and Victor. WEith all of the different mine tunnels and their names and the roads also. It is From the Colorado Map, Abstract, and Title Co.It Measures 18 inches by 23 inches. Shipping $8.00.

A super collectible mining book titled THE COAL AND METAL MINERS' POCKET BOOK for your consideration to add to your collection. From the Coal Mines of western PA circa 1905. Written inside front cover is R. M. Walker(can't make out the town) PA Jan 1906. Measures 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" Leather cover. Looks like Mr. Walker used it quite often. But not so much that it has detracted from the overall book. Pages have normal wear. All pages are intact. The last page has some damage but still there and does not ruin content. Leather cover has some wear, but I like it. Looks like it shows the work ethic and character of Mr. Walker. Thank you for looking.
