Miners Oil Wick Lamp HUSSON "2" w/ Copper Spout, circa 1900, mining caving light
Here is a vintage miner's lamp from about 100 years ago. The type of light miner's wore on their hats. This one is made by HUSSON and has a"2" stamped on the bottom. Lamp stands 2 1/4" tall to the hinge and has a copper spout that extends into the bottom of the lamp. Some surface corrosion from age, but this is a nice example of early mine lighting. This one has some decorative square block markings on it. Points are still sharp. Iron metal is in good condition. There is some normal wear and discoloration. Rare. Collectible GUY'S DROPPER carbide cap lamp with a plain(no threads) burner tube and 2 Patent Dates stamped on the top: 1914 and 1916. Best of all, this lamp has the RARE, unique, GUY'S DROPPER reflector made for this lamp and held on with the original set-screw. See pictures! Lamp has a new flint in the working striker and a new felt filter inside. This hard to find GUY'S DROPPER model(with the plain, smooth burner tube) is used and has a solder repair inside(solder not visible on the outside) to stabilize the short crack on the skirt. 2-Date Guy's Dropper Miners' Carbide Cap Lamp w/Supt. Handles Tall Boy
Up for consideration is a beautiful Guy's Dropper Miner's Carbide Cap Lamp Tall Boy with Superintendent handles in a nickel plate version. The lamp has two patent dates on the top 5-26-14 and 9-19-16 and is hallmarked Guy's Dropper. The lid has a small dent. The brass reflector is in excellent condition with the original flame tip. The lighter has the original spring but is missing the flint and appears to be in working order. The fuel pot has very little wear with the original rubber gasket but has a few small dents on the bottom. This lamp would make a nice addition to your collection. See additional photos for detail.

Offered here is a tough to find single jack mining hammer. Marked Vulcan Tool Company 3 1/2 pound. Also stamped Solid Steel. Head measures 5.50 x 1.75, with the wood handle measuring 14.25. Handle shows good age. Tapered head of hammer is similar to the drilling hammers sold under the name Nevada Pattern. Most of these are found in four pound size. Great early piece of mining history. This lamp is the Justrite No. 2-844 with 3/4" Flat Hook. It appears to be all complete. This lamp comes in its original box with its original instructions. Antique SMALL Tin Miners Oil Wick Lamp w Wick Hinged Lid - 2 1/2 Inches Tall
This old lamp comes from a local estate and I do not know much about it so please review the photos to see exact condition. Parts.etc. The lamp measures 2 1/2 inches tall to top of spout. Bottom measures about 1 5/8 in diameter. It has a hinged lid that opens and closes snugly- all seems fine there. It has a tiny pin hole in the top of the lid- not sure why. There is a wooly or cotton type fuzzy wick of sorts- exposed end of wick is old and yellowed with age- the other end inside the lamp is more white. I don't know how old the wick is. Inside of lamp there is some light surface rust. Patina has darkened with age as you would expect. Please ask if any questions- I will be happy to answer. Lamp weighs about 2 ounces. Mining~ c1880s~Rare~Early Style Miners Singlejack Drilling Hammer and 2 Drills
This is a very early VARY RARE excellent condition three piece set of c1880s"UNDERGROUND MINERS 3 1/2 LB. SINGLEJACK DYNAMITE DRILLING HAMMER& TWO HAND DRILLS" This blunt tappered style head is the earliest style miners singlejack hammer you can collect and I know that because I only find them in early 1880s mines. It is stamped with the number"3 1/2 lb. on the bottom and has no other markings. This set comes with a rare pointed Bull Bit that the miners only used to start the drill holes. The other drill is a standard chisel bit. These three were found deep underground in an abandoned 1880s mine and hasn't seen light in over 120 years. Singlejack Drilling Hammers with the tapered ends are unique to mining and are very rare. They are what the miners used(see my 1890s photo of a miner using one) to drill the dynamite ... moreholes along with the steel octagon hand drills. Every miner had to own his own singlejack hammer whereas the doublejack hammers were owned by the mining company's. This hammer is 14" long with it's original hickory handle and the two drills are 11" and 9" The original hickory handle fits tight into the head and is in excellent overall condition. This Singlejack Hammer and two drills represents the earliest tools of early 1880s underground mining. If you want to own a complete set of really early underground miners dynamite tools. Mining~Early c1890s~ Underground Miners #2 Drift Pick~Randsburg Mining District
This is a very rare early c1880s hard rock"UNDERGROUND MINERS NO 2 SHORT EARED DRIFT PICK" stamped"WARWOOD# 2" It was found deep underground in an abandoned 1880s mine and hasn't seen light in over 100 years. These number 2 DRIFT PICKS have short ears only 16" total and were used by underground miners in driving tunnells. Drifts and crosscuts and any areas of the mine where the work area was tight. It is 32" long and the head is 16"wide and it has the early straight pick ears and narrow handle neck that is common for the earliest of all miners picks. It has it's original hickory handle that fits tight into the head and is in very nice overall condition. This early#2 drift pick represents the earliest tools of early 1880s underground hard rock mining. Good Luck

Mining~Five 1880s~ Fired~Miners Candlestick Candles~2 Stearc Acid ~ 3 Adamantine
For you mining candlestick and miners candle collectors. This is a set of five c1880s Stearic Acid and Adamantine"FIRED MINERS MINING CANDLES" They were found in an 1880s abandoned mine and range in length from 3 3/8" to 1 1/2" and are the perfect size to display in your miners candlesticks. Mining candles were always 3/4" in diameter and never any other size so they could fit into every miners candlestick. The two whiter candles in the center are very hard Stearic Acid Candles and the other three are the more common Adamantine Candles. When a candle burned down to the top of the candlestick thimble it would burn out and the miner would have to replace it. The miners called these short candles snuffs. Stearic Acid Candles were much harder and burned at a much slower rate. 2 - Iron Antique Primitive Coal Miners Mining Oil Lamps / Lanterns / Lights
Up for bids are two very early primitive looking antique oil lanterns that would have hung from a coal miners helmet or hat to light the mine in front of the miner while he was mining or digging the coal. This was the only light source for mining at the time and using these lanterns was very dangerous and caused many explosions that killed a lot of coal miners. The lanterns are well worn and have seen a lot of use. The taller lantern stands 4 1/4" high. It is missing its filler cap and some of the metal at the end of the torch has broken off as seen in the pictures. The smaller lantern has all of its parts but has some dents and the lid is rusted in place to the top and will not open. I think if you sprayed it with penetrating oil it would loosen up but that's up to any new owner. They both are stamped with the shield logo containing the words"ST*AR* GEO ANTON MONANGAHALIIA CITY WASHINGTON Co PA" The smaller lamp has only the shield logo while the larger one has an eagle and the words"TRADE MARK" stamped above the shield.
