Vintage coal miners carbide lamp. Made by Auto-Lite Universal lamp Company. It is brass and complete even has the rubber cover on the bottom that is usually missing or damaged after this many years. made in USA and I could not find the date on it. It is 4" tall, the base is 2" across and the reflector is 2 1/2" wide. The belt hook appears to be damaged, but other than that it is in good condition. I have described the items condition to the best of my knowledge. This all brass Auto-Lite carbide headlamp is NOS and dates to the 1920s-30s. Amazingly the original box is still w/ the lamp after all these years. This was found in the attic of an old Texas home. The box is a bit tattered and the top is torn loose but all there. Very nice lamp.

let me 1st tell you the story about this cool little lamp.I picked it up at an auction.it was in a scrap box to go to the scrap yard.it had so much oil and dirt on it you could not tell it was a lamp.all you could see was some of the outline of it.so i bid and won it.i got it home and got what i could off with a rag and removed the bottom and found it full of carbide( it was removed and cleaned) still could not make out who made it so i gave it a bath in my own brine solution i make and after about an hour here is what came out.as you can see the bottom is cracked and a few other places as well.and to think it was going to the scrap yard. glad i took a chance on it) its not in the best of shape and would not try and use it but still a very cool lamp with now many more years to be displayed and enjoyed.well that is the story of the little ... morelamp that almost was no more.use the ZOOM on all the pics and ask any questions you may have.Thanks for looking and have a great day.

The outside of the lamp is in very good condition. The outside brass surface is very shiny for its age. The silver-colored reflector is intact. The top lid opens smoothly on its hinge. The bottom section unscrews easily from the top section. The lamp has residual carbide on the inside. No cracks in the metal are apparent. There are surface scratches on the top of the lamp. But the side walls of the lamp are surprisingly almost scratch free. No significant indentations in the metal. The“on-off” switch on top swivels are intended but it is not known if the switch works. Antique Virginia Miners"Safety" Hard Hat/Helmet w/Liner Auto Lite Carbide Lamp The woman I purchased this from told me it came from Virginia and was originally used for cole mining. I am not an expert on this item so please ask questions BEFORE you bid and I will do my best to respond same day. It has the original liner still in place. As you can see from the pictures. The back part of the liner is partially ripped in two spots. It has a leather loop on the back for hanging(original) and a mount on the front that holds the lamp. One side of the mounting bracket is damaged and there is a spider crack right next to that but I can't feel where it goes through to the inside. On the very back right under the leather loop, a small piece is missing at the stitch line 1/2"3/4"approx. No rust on the lamp that I could see. Vintage Auto-Lite Brass Miners Carbide Lamp w/ 4 inch Reflector
This old style miner's lamp was made in the U.S.A. by the Universal Lamp Co. in Chicago. It is made of brass and the top half is silvered. It stands 4 1/2" tall- the reflector is 4" in diameter. It does need some cleaning- There is residual lime left in the cup from use. All of the levers work and the top tank holds water. The flint spring is missing and there is a dent in the top and one on the bottom. This item is great for a collection or for display in a man-cave.

Antique Brass AUTOLITE Miners Cap Carbide Lamp AUTO LITE As Found Working
This is an antique AUTOLITE miner lamp. We found it in a storage unit. I have done nothing to it. The striker does work and make sparks. It does unscrew and open at the top, all of the parts seem to work well, plus all of the rubber is there and seems to be in good condition. There are areas that have rust, but should polish or clean up. I measures 4" across the lens and is 3 3/4' tall at the brass lamp side. It does have normal signs of use, but I didn't see any big dents or holes anywhere. see the pictures. Please see all of the pictures they say more than I can with words. Miners Carbide Lamp AUTO LITE & MINERS SOFT CAP
The lamp does not have the side clips on the bracket. The miner tied cord on the holder to keep the lamp.More, securely in place. The lamp comes with a bumper guard. I replaced the felt and flint. The lamp started up on the first strike. The water control works well. There is a small dent on the reflector and on the lip of the carbide holder. There are a few small scratches. I would guess the hat is about 7 1/2" It fits me fine. I usually find hats that fit me are 7" to 7 1/2" Questions. Comments, concerns. Please contact me.
