Rare Baldwin brass"S" carbide mining lamp. Measures aprox. 4" high and 2" across the base. It opens and closes easily. I have not cleaned it as to not ruin the patina. No modern drilling machines in them days for him it was all hand drilling with a sledge hammer and drill bit if they could get dynamite otherwise it was pick and shovel work, 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. there are no markings on the lamps but believed to have been made in Thailand. A must for and Carbide/oil miners lamp collector. Still has old Carbide inside. I hard rock mined around the world for nearly 20 years and cannot resist a good old miners lamp when I see one. Some have been sold. And some are yet to be listed. We have two of these nearly identical. So I've labeled them A& B just for our shipping purposes. As you can see in the photos. This is a vintage lamp that shows expected and customary condition of age and use including dent s and small fractures. The striker wheel turns freel y. In fact. This one emitted a spark and startled me. The top of the lamp unscrews from the base. I'm not an expert on carbide lamps. And welcome any questions you may have. Vintage coal miners carbide lamp. Made by Auto-Lite Universal lamp Company. It is brass and complete even has the rubber cover on the bottom that is usually missing or damaged after this many years. made in USA and I could not find the date on it. It is 4" tall, the base is 2" across and the reflector is 2 1/2" wide. The belt hook appears to be damaged, but other than that it is in good condition. I have described the items condition to the best of my knowledge. Antique JUSTRITE Brass Carbide Miner Lantern w/ Reflector If there is no bid in this item in the first 24 hours we reserve the right to end the auction. This is a nice antique miner lamp that is in great shape. This miner lamp measures approx 4" tall. The reflector is 2 1/2" in diameter. The brass lamp is in great shape. With only a couple very tiny dents on the side from years of use. The carbide is still in the bottom part, and we will leave it for the high bidder to decide what they want to do with it. The top and bottom screw together good. But the top sits a little forward when screwed on. The rubber( fitting(gasket? that is between the top and bottom is old and a little stiff and dry, but it is in one piece. See picture 11. The top is stamped with"Made in USA" Pat No. 115123" JUSTRITE" and"ON/OFF" ... morewith arrows. The filler cap on the top opens and closes nicely and is good and tight. The lamp has the piece that hooks onto a hard hat that the miners wore when working. The reflector is in good shape but does have a little wear and some light rusting there the finish is worn off. And a tiny bit on the back. The wheel on the reflector is hard to turn, but does turn. This reflector is magnetic. The bottom is stamped"United States of America" This would make an excellent addition to a lamp collection. We also have another very similar miners lamp ending 5 minutes after this one. In a two story miner's cabin with 2 ft thick walls made from stone. This lantern may have illuminated his cabin as well as his dig into the side of the mountain. ANTIQUE SCRANTO MINERS BRASS CARBIDE LAMP 1913
It is 4 3/4 inches tall. On one side it says Scranto Registered Trade Mark. On the other side it says Patented Sept. 12- 1911 Dec. 16- 1913. It has two letter A's scratched into the top and one scratched into the bottom. It has some age stress cracks around the top and bottom as is normal for these lamps. It has a couple of minor dents in the top and bottom and it is missing the reflector and striker. This came from an important Scranton Pa. mining collection. Antique Brass Coal Miner's Carbide Helmet Lamp AUTO-LITE Universal Co 1930s
This unusual antique brass miner's lamp is about 4 5/16" tall and the reflector is 4" in diameter and it was designed to be worn on the miner's helmet. The carbide fueled lamp is very sturdy and well made and it is marked"Auto-Lite Universal Lamp Co.etc. on the top and the bottom. I was told that this lamp was used in the N.E. Pennsylvania coal mines long ago. There is some wear and a patina of age but over all the miner's lamp is in good original condition with no parts missing except for the carbide fuel and a piece of flint for the striker. I know it is very old but I don't know the exact date it was made. My best guess as to age is ca. 1930s or earlier. Good luck! Up for bidding is an ITP Carbide Mine Lamp. Patented July 23, 1913 and August 8, 1916 by the Dewar Manufacturing Company. Description: The piece measures about 7" tall not counting the bail. And about 14.5" tall with the bail and hanger extended. The reflector measures about 3" in diameter. Dewar started using the ITP name in 1916. This appears to be the type of lantern that was attached to a mine car. Condition: Very good with a bit of aging to the surfaces. The reflector is still shiny. No problems. Condition: Nickel plating in good shape. Largest imperfection is a spot behind water tank where plating has chipped off. Bumps include one to edge of reflector at four o’clock position. And various bumps around perimeter and on bottom surface of carbide chamber. No stress cracks. Lamp is clean, inside and out. Complete with striker, hook, and cap brace. Needs a flint and the flint holder opens fine. Some carbide stains inside the bottom. Cap opens easy. No marks on the bottom. Reflector is soldered on and not removeable. Gasket is present and soft. This is a great collectors item that I inherited it from my grandfather-in-law in western Colorado. The patent date is 11/2/1926 others pending. The lamp appears to be made of brass and it looks like it was only lightly used with no major dings or rust that I can see. Although the brass is tarnished. Over 50% of the reflector surface is still shiny. The stamp on the side says either 11P or ITP. The lamp measures 6 1/2 inches tall. 3 inches in diameter at the bottom, and the reflector diameter is 3 1/4 inches. My home is smoke-free in a dry climate and no offensive odors were detected. This is a nice rare find. It is a cola Miners head lamp. All parts are in working order. The inscription on top is"Streamline" JUSTRITE" Also. Made is USA. It is in overall good condition. The discoloring will clean right off as shown by the photo of the top where it was cleaned to show the name. A great collectable item!

Antique John Simmons Baldwin Patent Brass Carbide Miners Lamp Lantern
For sale is an antique brass miners lamp/ lantern. Has an"S" in diamond logo on the top. Which I think stands for"John Simmons" Has the two patent's listed, has the name"Baldwin" between the two patents. One patent is 1901, the other is 1913. Brass lantern has heavy tarnish, reflector has rust around the rim in places, but is still solid. Should clean up well. I can not move the feed lever at the top of the lamp, but did not try to force it. No dents that I can find.
