Sideburn 34: Out Now

We venture into the deserts of California, Mexico and South Africa to test the mettle of our contributors. Old bikes are ridden not hidden, and inappropriate machinery is raced through 1000 miles of wilderness  proving the adage that it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

SB34 also features McQueen's very own Huskie; a new regular column from Death Spray Custom, an interview with the toughest woman in flat track; follows a group of female high school students building a budget race bike and serves up an LSD-fueled report from Wheels and Waves El Rollo race. Yes, really.

Two Years Ago...

Just over two years ago, I returned from a 16-day trip riding through South Africa, Namibia and into Zambia with a group led by Charley Boorman and Motoaventures. I follow him instagram (we are @sideburnmag by the way) and he's just done the trip again. Seeing his insta posts reminded me to dig out these photos, under the perhaps ill-found assumption you might be interested.
The first day's riding around the Cape was incredible.
The back of Table Mountain (not Sugar Loaf Mountain, you dumbass Inman! See comments).
Selfie. I wrote that bike off the next day.
Charley B, wearing the Sideburn x Deus Ex Machina shirt Deus made a couple of years ago.
Near the Fish River Canyon, Namibia.
If this looks like fun, and you've got a wedge of cash for a trip of a lifetime, check out Motoaventures Tours. G

Candy Dirt Quake

From Brett in Cape Town

I love my t-shirt and so I thought I'd do some shameless self promotion of both Sideburn and my own art!

Los Muertos, Cape Town, South Africa

Brad from South Africa got in touch to say he was fitting out a new store and workshop in Cape Town. We don't know a lot about it, other than it's going to be called Los Muertos, and he's hoping to have it open in late-October, early November. It looks like it could be interesting, if the photos of Los Muertos trip out into the Kalahari Desert are anything to go by.
Find out more here soon, and also at Los Muertos MC. Good luck Brad. G

Margo goes Surfing

From Brett. Remember, every order from Sideburn gets a free limited edition vinyl sticker. This one is all gone though.

I've taken Sideburn surfing. She seems to be able to brave the cold waters of Cape Town!
All the best,
Brett Williams
