Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation - $35 - a pressed mineral foundation that provides sheer to full buildable coverage and contains oil-absorbing microspheres and
moisturizing benefits - it features a matte finish that is never cakey or drying to the skin and is free of gluten, mineral
oil and talc.
If you've looked at the Cover FX line before but found it confusing picking a shade, you'll be happy to know that the shade system is now easier to follow, is inclusive of all
skintones and comes in 24 shades - with each shade scientifically 3% darker than the previous shade in the series.
To find your match just decide on your underlying skintone: pink, neutral or golden; and from that series pick the perfect shade:
P = Pink: P20 - fair to light, P30 - light to medium, P40 - medium, P50 - medium to tan;
N = Neutral (equal parts pink
and golden): N10 - porcelain to light, N20 - fair to light, N25 - light, N30 - light to medium, N35 - medium light, N40 - medium, N50 - medium to tan, N60 - medium-deep, N70 - medium to deeply tanned, N80 - deep medium, N90 - dark to deep, N100 - deep, N110 - deepest, rich ebony
G = Golden: G20 - fair to light, G30 - light to medium, G40 - medium, G50 - medium to tan, G60 - medium-deep, G70 - medium to deeply tanned, G80 - deep medium.
The lower the number, the lighter the shade.
If you aren't sure what your undertone is, start with the N series - if
the shade looks too Pink, find your shade in the Golden undertones. If
the shade looks too Yellow, find your shade in the Pink undertones.
Available at Murale, Shoppers Drug Mart and Sephora.
Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder - $13.49 - in 12 natural shades: Porcelain
Ivory, Ivory, Classic Ivory, Nude, Creamy Natural, Sandy Beige, Pure Beige, Natural Beige, Medium Buff, Honey Beige, Buff Beige and Caramel - that offer second-skin perfection for the perfect no-makeup look. It's different from traditional powders because of its smooth-whipped, creamy texture which offers a soft, sleek look and silky touch that is chalk-free with 60% less talc.
Available now at drug and mass retailers across Canada.
and I know I already posted this one but in case you missed it, you don't want to miss it!
Make Up For Ever HD Pressed Powder - $41 - anyone who already
loves the Microfinish Loose Powder but hates how un-portable it is has
been waiting for this one - a PRESSED silky, lightweight finishing
powder that softens the appearance of fine lines and pores and is
perfect for use throughout the day to reduce shine and slightly mattify
skin.
If you've never tried it, where the hell have you
been?! It's great for all skin types, one universal shade fits all and
it adds a soft-focus, naturally radiant effect to blur imperfections,
such as fine lines and pores, while remaining completely invisible to
even the most magnified HD lens. Just be careful not to use too much,
it will show a white cast to the skin in pictures if you overdo it, just
look at any "star's makeup mishaps" in the tabloids and you are sure to
see an example of someone who did just that! And for these cold winter
days, it's especially great that it's formulated with hyaluronic acid to
help prevent skin dehydration.
You can use it with a
powder sponge or puff but I find apply it like that shifts my foundation
around too much so I prefer applying even my loose powder with a brush -
Make Up For Ever has a lovely powder kabuki brush but it doesn't have a
cover so for traveling with it, I prefer the Lise Watier retractable
powder brush which is perfect for tossing in your bag and keeping it
mess-free.
Available exclusively at Sephora, sephora.ca and Make Up For Ever boutiques.
