Chanel wants to Tattoo You! Les Trompe-L'Oeil de Chanel

Chanel's 2010 Spring/Summer Ready-to-Wear Show featured beautifully soft makeup from the Spring collection and also something surprising - tattoos!  Peter Phillips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Make-up describes his inspiration for them:

"For the show I wanted to play with the Chanel symbols, the pearls, the chains, wheat, as well as blossoms and small swallows who usually announce the arrival of spring.
I placed the tattoos on different parts of the body, in an elegant yet sensual manner, « chic and sexy »: On the décolleté, the wrists and thighs like a garter.

All this in a cheerful and festive manner.

The chains dressed the slender and delicate wrists. The pearls, intertwined with flowers and wheat, fell like cascades down the length of the legs, or became a necklace on which the swallows rested.
... "

I really like the contrast between the softness of the makeup and the edginess of the tattoos.  Will I be picking some up?  I don't know that I have the legs to pull it off, but if you do, they will be available to purchase for $75 at selected Chanel Boutiques in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.  Show your Chanel love without the commitment or permanency of a real tattoo, unlike these people I read about here who kind of scare me!

Stay tuned I will be posting the pictures and product info for the Chanel Spring makeup collection next week!

Missy Industry - edgy jewellery that is not for the faint of heart!

One of my favourite November things every year is the One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sale which takes place here in Toronto.  While the spring show is where I find the best clothing from Canadian designers, the Christmas show always has the best jewellery.  This year I discovered Montreal's Missy Industry.  It was like my jewellery box from the 80's had been transported to the Direct Energy building for me to shop from.  Razor blade earrings, skulls galore and a Flying V guitar necklace, too cool!  Now I love edgy jewellery, never met a skull I didn't like and adore 80's kitsch.  If this is your thing too then you will want to check it out.  I picked up the "butterskull" necklace to the left because it combines two of my favourite things and I saw lots of other things I would have loved to go home with.  Luckily she has an etsy store so you and I can still go shopping, even when the show is over.  Best of all, her pieces are very affordable.  All shown are in the $50 range.

Vampires are back, cassette tapes, maybe not so much but they are both still cool on a necklace.

Bret Michaels would be touched to see you in these "Every rose has its thorn" earrings - he might even invite you to appear on Rock of Love!

These is still lots of time to check these out all of Missy's pieces in Booth Q-39 at the show.  The show runs until December 6.  And remember, her stuff would go great with Christelle's shoes from the other day!
