SkinCareRx Beauty Cache Contest!

There are few things I love more in life then a sampler set - I wait around all year to get my hands on the ones Sephora puts out at Christmas while this whole time, sample sets were waiting right under my nose at SkinCareRx.  For $29.95 you get everything pictured here - and every 3 months there is a different set!  You can go order them yourself each quarter or you can enroll and just have them auto shipped to you.  What I love about deluxe sample sizes is that they save you from wasting money by buying full sized products that you don't know if you will like and I like that these caches contain brands that I have never tried (or maybe heard) of before.  On top of all the wonderful samples, you also get a $25 gift card to be used on a $100 purchase - you can buy the full size of the sample you liked the most or anything else that catches your eye!  And it's not just skin care, they also have cosmetics and fragrance so there is tons of products to choose from!  I'm happy to see they have all my favourite lines:  Jurlique, Rodial, Smashbox and Nuxe to name a few as well as brands I don't know at all and will need to explore! Go here to check out the cache for yourself.

And to start off your cache joy, we are giving one away!  The products can vary from bag to bag depending on when you order, so this is just what it includes in the picture: Product pomade for hair (1.5 oz), 3 Kinerase facial peel sachetes, Colorescience mini orb in Almost Clear, MD Skincare tinted moisturizer 4g, MD skincare eye cream sample, Marina lipstick, Jane Iredale mini eyelash conditioner, Skinceuticals Phloretin ampoule, bond no9 parfume sample, lavender body lotion 1.5 oz, Juara rice face cleanser 1 oz, Heliocare 10 tablets supplement for skin, Vitamedica 40 tablets supplement for reduction of discomfort, bruising and swelling from injectable procedures all in a blue cosmetics case.  Sound good?  Want it?
Here's all you have to do to be our lucky winner:  This contest is open to the US and Canada. All you have to do is join Beauty Crazed as a follower if you aren't one already.  You can either do it through Google or through Networked Blogs on Facebook - you can find both signups on the right hand side of the Beauty Crazed site.  Once you belong to our crazy family just leave a reply to this post letting us know you want in and one line you love that SkinCareRx carries and one line they carry that you would love to try!  If you give the contest link a tweet and/or post it on your blog, there's an extra entry in it for you!  There's an addition entry if you become a fan of SkinCareRx on Facebook, you can go here to do that: http://www.facebook.com/SkinCareRx  Including an e-mail address would be extra helpful and you can write it like this - info(at)beautycrazed(dot)ca - so the bots can't find you but we can.  If you prefer not to leave your e-mail on a public post, please leave a post saying you want to enter and then e-mail us your info - info@beautycrazed.ca, please put "SkinCareRx Contest" in the subject line.  Winner to be decided by random drawing and you have until June 4th to enter.

Make over your mood with colour!

Did you know that nearly twice as many women (57%)
consider happiness as more important than health (30%) or attractiveness
(13%), according to a new Self Magazine poll. Why not brighten both your
face and your outlook-- SELF's colour experts outline how the hues of your
cosmetics can enhance your mood, whether you want to feel energetic,
confident, sensual or joyful.  I knew that buying makeup made me happy but I didn't realize that wearing it also affected my (and others around me) moods!

Try blue to feel lively! No one loves having the blues, but wearing a flash
of the colour may stir the opposite emotion. (Findings suggest that viewing
the shade is apt to elicit positive feelings.) "We associate blue with
tropical seas and the sky, so it can be uplifting," says Leatrice Eiseman,
director of the Pantone Color Institute in Carlstadt, New Jersey. Swipe blue
on eyes, the face's focal point, to prompt a smile from everyone you meet.
Some blues to try: 1. Maybelline New York Eye Studio in Navy Narcissist, $7 2. Shiseido Makeup Luminizing Satin Eye Color in Fresco, $25. 3. Napoleon Perdis Prismatic Eye Shadow Quad in Earth, $35. 4. Physicians Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo for Blue Eyes, $11.

Wear plum to be bold! "Berry shades make a statement," says Troy Surratt, a
makeup artist in New York City. "And compared with stop-sign red, plum is
subdued, so it's more wearable." Another reason to give plain Jane nudes a
break: If you convey self-assurance with your makeup, you'll feel that way,
too. "Try on stronger shades at home first," says Poppy King, founder of
Lipstick Queen makeup in NYC. "If you vacuum with plum lips, wearing the
colour out will be less daunting."

Pretty Plums:  1. N.Y.C. New York Color Extreme Lip Glider Lip Gloss in Riverside Rouge, $4. 2. Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour in Rouge Noir, $30. 3. Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Plum, $9. 4. Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupté in Glazed Blackcurrant, $30.

Play with gray to feel sexy! Studies show that humans are drawn to a direct,
steady gaze. Smoky eyes "make it seem as if you're focusing intently on
someone," says Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., author of Survival of the Prettiest: The
Science of Beauty (Anchor Books). Gray may also heighten your sex appeal:
Research indicates that women whose eyes appear darker than their
surrounding skin are seen as more feminine. Channel your inner femme fatale.

Sulty grays:  1. Urban Decay Stardust Eyeshadow in Moon Spoon, $20. 2. Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds Eye Liner in Smokey Diamond, $6. 3. Christian Dior 5-Colour Iridescent Dentelle Eyeshadow in Pearl Glow, $57. 4. Shu Uemura Eye Shimmer Duo in Starry Violet, $42.

Think pink to be happy! A gorgeous, luminous complexion is a sure sign that
you're in a joyful place: When you're elated (or amorous, for that matter),
blood vessels near the skin's surface become dilated, increasing your
natural rosiness; imagine how healthy and vibrant you are after a romp
between the sheets or a laugh with pals. Get a glow anytime by applying one
of the pretty pinks below. We predict you'll not only look happy but also
give off happy vibes.
Pretty in pink:  1. The Body Shop Kiss of Color Cheek Blush in Vibrant Rose, $14. 2. Estée Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Blush in Sunset Pink, $26. 3. Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights Blush in Baked Starlight, $30. 4. Lancôme Pop'n Cheeks Gentle and Lasting Blush in Coral Flirt, $29.

So try a little colour to change your mood - seems like it would be more fun than taking an anti-depressant!

Vapour Organic Beauty - so light you will swear you aren't wearing makeup!

It used to be that when I heard people talking about cosmetics that feel lighter than air, like there isn't even anything on your face - I was always skeptical, like when I heard people talking about unicorns and fairies, nice stories but everyone knows they aren't real.  Vapour Organic Beauty has me changing my tune, not about the unicorns so much but I have finally tried for myself a makeup line that truly is like wearing nothing at all on your face!

Formulated in New Mexico, their artisanal cosmetics lab is one of the pioneers of healthy non-toxic cosmetics.  After years of developing and manufacturing products for other brands, they knew the time was right to lunch their own brand.  They teamed up with Eric Sakas who spent years developing cosmetics alongside legendary makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin as well as working for many major beauty brands and Vapour Organic Beauty was born.

This makeup line is especially great for people that don't have the time or patience to mess around with their makeup.  It all comes in a stick form, requires no brushes or applicators other then your fingers - just swipe, rub with your fingers and go!  I have now tried several of their products and these were my faves:

Atmosphere Luminous Foundation - 110 light (comes in 5 colours) - $41 - this is meant to be a buildable light to medium coverage.  I like a light coverage so this was perfect for me.  Be prepared, it really does have a luminous quality to it so if you have oily skin you might not like the finished look as it does look somewhat glowy.  I tried using a loose powder on top and that knocked out the glow so you can certainly wear this foundation luminous or matte.  I don't think I can rave enough about how little this felt like foundation.  It was literally like having nothing on my face!

Aura Multi Use Blush - 202 spark (comes in 3 colours) - $32.50 - I am a fan of cream blushes and this one was no exception.  Again the colour was buildable, had the same light texture and blended really easily.  You can also use this as a lip and eye colour if you like a natural easy look.

Siren Lipstick - 402 hint (comes in 5 colours) - very creamy with just a hint of shine.  It had good lasting power, I didn't have to reapply until after lunch.

Elixir Lip Gloss - 303 twinkle (comes in 5 colours) - lots of shine and the colour was perfect.  Looked nice on it's own but really beautiful over a lipstick!

Also available in the Vapour line is a concealer, trick stick, primer, eye colour stick and lip conditioner.  New products coming up are a bronzer, body spotlighter and a gloss.  I'll keep you updated on those.

Vapour Organic Beauty can be purchased online here.  Canadians should check it out here on The Shopping Channel website which is an even better deal for us as they have lots of sets available.  My husband was horrified to discover that The Shopping Channel has a website that sells beauty products - he doesn't feel my habit requires another supplier.  Check it out here, they have lots of brands that I only thought were available at Sephora and some that I didn't think we could get here at all.  Stay tuned for more of my Shopping Channel finds and definitely check out Vapour!
