Land that I Love Patriotic Wood Slice Art!

I was able to guest post at Sugar Bee Crafts as part of the fun Red, White and Blue last year. So it's been a year since I did this craft, but this was fun and easy! I love wood slices! Last year in May there was a huge windstorm here...hundreds of giant trees were downed in a couple of hours.  That meant weeks of work and cleanup...but we collected all the wood we could.  We made some new friends and bought a new chainsaw.  Haha.  We have all the wood slices we could handle.  If you don't have access to wood slices, any reclaimed wood or even new wood and make a fun sign.  We were fortunate, or unfortunate, to have a major windstorm a couple months  ago that toppled some very old trees in our neighborhood.  We saw it as an opportunity to acquire some inexpensive crafting medium. So, I'm painting on a wood slice...you can use pallet boards, pine, barn wood, old wood fence,  anything with a reclaimed look is fun! You could...

St. Patrick's Day Charm Necklace!

St. Patrick's Day Charm Necklace!  I love this fun necklace filled with all sorts of "don't pinch me" charms!  I got my materials from Oriental Trading, They have everything you need for parties, holidays, weddings, crafts, novelty toys, kids, religious, and high quality art supplies! You will need: Silver chain Lucky Clover and Wish Charms Jewelry pliers jump rings Green crystal beads Tassels Vintage Shamrock charms Just use the jump rings and put charms all over as much of the necklace as you like! I did the tassel in the center because it is the heaviest and will likely shift that way anyway. Then filled in with different charms and beads. Slide a crystal bead or 2 on the rhinestone eyepin.  Cut it with the pliers and then curl the remaining part of the eyepin to make a loop for hanging on the chain. Not too tricky! I love it and it's perfect for anytime of year, but especially now! This post published on...

Cinema Lightbox DIY Letters and Words!

Cinema Lightbox DIY Letters and Words!   I just love these cinema light box signs! They are so fun and easy to use!  They come with loads of letters and shapes. They can run on 6 batteries or plug into a usb/wall adapter. Great for parties, holidays and more! But I wanted to make some custom letters. I used a laminator machine and a thermal pouch. I love my laminator. I got my Scotch laminator about 5 years ago, and since they've upgraded. But they are fabulous! Just laminate one pouch with nothing in it. This makes a thick enough layer for cinema letters. The cinema letters are 2.5 inches tall. I cut the laminating pouch into 2.5 inch strips. I wrote out Happy Birthday in calligraphy. Scanned it into the computer and had my Silhouette Cameo cut it out of black vinyl. Then I used transfer tape to transfer the vinyl to the plastic strip. Placed on the plastic and rubbed well. Then peel back the transfer tape. Slide in...
