Top 5 face product 2016

Hi fairies,

Last year I’ve tried lots of face products because in my opinion a good makeup starts with a good base, it’s pointless to do a great eye makeup if your skin looks shiny or cakey, it needs to look on point whether you’re going for a matte or a dewy look!

I’ve found good products that are now part of my daily routine and I’ve tried some that aren’t good for my needs , it’s been quite hard to pick the top 5 but I eventually managed!

5. Kiko universal fit foundation: I bought it because it was on sale without having great expectations about it and I was pleasantly surprised! It’s medium coverage, easy to apply, it lasts all day without looking cakey and it performs quite well when it’s hot on my oily skin, which is quite amazing! It can’t be compared to high end matte foundations but it’s great as an everyday foundation when I want to look put together but not super glam! Here you can read my full review. 4. Mac escapade highlighter: I’m not for subtle highlighters and this one is just what I was looking for! There aren’t glitters in it but it adds such a beautiful glow to my complexion, I love it! It’s a cold shade, pink silver I would say, and I think it looks better on fair skin tones, it’s very pigmented and very noticeable, it lasts all day, it’s absolutely beautiful! Price 32.00 €

3. nyx hd face powder: it’s a translucent powder with a very fine texture, not powdery at all, that sets my makeup all day without looking cakey. It’s very lightweight and it can be used on any skin tones. I like it because it’s low cost but it performs well and it keeps shine at bay for 5-6 hours, it doesn’t set into fine lines and it doesn’t emphasize pores.

2. too faced absolutely flawless concealer: I’ve tried several concealers and it’s not easy to find one that doesn’t set into fine lines instantly aging myself of ten years, but this one doesn’t! I was a bit sceptical because the consistency is quite thick and sticky, but it actually doesn’t crease, it’s got great coverage and it lasts really long, a little goes a long way due to the texture and pigmentation and it smoothens out my undereye area! It needs to be set though because it doesn’t dry completely. Here you can read my review.

1.Marc Jacobs re(marc)able foundation: it’s high end therefore expensive, but it’s so worth it! It’s a full coverage foundation with a matte finish, I don’t recommend it if you like a glowy and natural look because there’s nothing natural and glowy about this product but, if you love a matte face, this is the foundation for you! I don’t need to use concealer with it, it stays flawless all day, it doesn’t look cakey , it minimizes pores, it’s awesome! Price 40.00 €

Lo scorso anno ho provato tanti nuovi prodotti viso perchè, secondo me, un buon trucco necessita di una buona base, fare un trucco occhi perfetto non ha senso se poi il viso è lucido o ha un aspetto polveroso, deve risultare perfetto, sia che scegliate una finitura opaca sia che ne scegliate una luminosa!

Ho scoperto prodotti validi che sono entrati a far parte della mia routine quotidiana, e ne ho provati altri che invece non vanno bene per la mia tipologia di pelle, è stato difficile stilare la classifica dei top 5 ma alla fine ci sono riuscita!

5. Kiko universal fit foundation: l’ho comprato perchè era in saldo senza avere troppe aspettative, e sono rimasta piacevolmente sorpresa! Ha una copertura media, è facile da applicare, dura tutto il giorno senza appesantire e, anche quando fa caldo, ha un’ottima resa sulla mia pelle grassa, il che è piuttosto sorprendente! Non può essere paragonato a fondotinta opachi di alta profumeria, ma va benissimo per tutti i giorni quando voglio avere un aspetto ordinato senza essere troppo perfetta! 4. Mac escapade highlighter: non amo gli illuminanti troppo delicati e questo fa proprio al caso mio! Non ha glitter all’interno ma aggiunge una bellissima luminosità al mio incarnato, lo adoro! Lo descriverei come una tonalità fredda, argento rosato, che secondo me sta meglio sulle carnagioni chiare, è molto pigmentato e si nota molto, dura tutto il giorno, lo trovo veramente bellissimo! Prezzo 32.00 €

3. nyx hd face powder: è una polvere viso traslucida dalla grana finissima, per nulla polverosa, che fissa il trucco per tutto il giorno senza fare l’effetto mascherone. È molto leggera e si può usare su qualsiasi carnagione. Mi piace perché, pur essendo un prodotto economico, ha ottime prestazioni, tiene a bada la lucidità per almeno 5-6 ore, non si infila nelle pieghette e non enfatizza i pori.

2. too faced absolutely flawless concealer: ho provato diversi correttori e non è facile trovarne uno che non si infili nelle pieghette del contorno occhi invecchiandomi istantaneamente di 10 anni, ma questo non lo fa!all’inizio ero un po’ scettica per via della sua consistenza leggermente pastosa e appiccicosa, ma ho scoperto che non va nelle pieghette, ha un’ottima copertura e dura molto a lungo, ne serve pochissimo proprio per via della sua consistenza e pigmentazione e uniforma tutta la zona del contorno occhi! Va fissato con una polvere perché non si asciuga mai completamente e rimane leggermente appiccicoso. Qui potete leggere la mia recensione.

1. Marc Jacobs re(marc)able foundation: è un fondotinta di alta profumeria che costa molto, ma per me vale il prezzo che costa! Ha una copertura totale e una finitura opaca, non lo consiglio se si cerca un effetto naturale e luminoso perché non c’è niente di naturale e luminoso in questo prodotto ma, se volete un trucco opaco, questo è il fondotinta per voi! Quando lo uso non ho necessità di applicare il correttore, dura impeccabile tutto il giorno senza risultare pesante, minimizza i pori, è semplicemente eccezionale! Prezzo 40.00 €.

You all know contouring and highlighting have been so popular for the last couple of years, every company has come out with at least a contouring palette , and we all have at least one contouring palette in our collection! Too faced is one of my favorite brand , and when I saw this palette I immediately wanted it, mostly because of the packaging I’m not going to lie to you: it’s very cute, it makes you think of instagram and its filters, it’s edgy and up to date and I’ve fallen for it!

What I like : I love the packaging as I’ve just said, it’s edgy and slim, with a big mirror on the inside, travel friendly as it’s not heavy and bulky; I bought it because there is a lavender powder in it, and I love using these kind of powders because they even out my skin tone and they get rid of any dullness and yellow undertones for a flawless and ethereal look, they work very well as skin perfectors on pale skin, so I was very excited to try it out! I have to say Moon River is my favorite out of the three , it does what it’s supposed to, the texture is silky and it sets my makeup all day long. All three powders have got the same texture, they blend easily, they’re easy to apply and they don’t look cakey, they minimize pores and fine lines for a blurred look, just like the one you can achieve by using IG filters, they can be mixed together for a customized shade if you like. They also keep shine at bay, which is a plus for me as my skin is oily.

What I don’t like: totally toasted is a bit too orange to be used as a contour powder, and it’s too dark for me to be used as a bronzer, but I actually rarely use bronzers as I’m so pale and they don’t look good on me, so basically I don’t use it much , just mixed with the other two, but if your skin tone is darker than mine you will be able to use it . Sunrise, the yellow one, is a good illuminating powder, but then again is quite a bit too yellow for my skin tone and I have to be careful not to apply too much of it. It will work great on medium skin tones though. Basically I love the quality of all powders, but two of them aren’t exactly the best shades for my complexion, so I could have probably thought twice before purchasing it..but I know I would have bought it anyway!

My verdict: I would repurchase it because I love the concept behind it and the quality is good, all powders minimize pores and fine lines, they keep shine at bay and they last all day without looking cakey; you can take it with you when travelling because the palette isn’t bulky, pan size is quite big so , in my opinion, quality price ratio is good.

Sapete tutte che negli ultimi anni il contouring e l’highlighting stanno vivendo una grande popolarità, ogni casa cosmetica ha proposto almeno una palette per contouring, e ognuna di noi ne possiede almeno una! Too faced è uno dei miei marchi preferiti, tanto che quando ho visto questa palette ho immediatamente deciso che la volevo, principalmente per via del packaging, è inutile mentire: è carinissima, fa pensare a Instagram e ai suoi filtri,è moderna e grintosa e me ne sono innamorata!

Vediamo come viene descritta: Che cosa sono le Selfie Powder? Dei filtri per il mondo reale!

Cosa mi piace: come vi ho appena detto mi piace il packaging, è moderno e sottile, con un grande specchio all’interno,ideale da portare in viaggio dato che non è né ingombrante né pesante; l’ho comprata perché contiene una polvere color lavanda, che io amo usare perché mi uniforma il colorito ed elimina eventuali grigiori e sottotoni gialli, regalandomi un look impeccabile ed etereo ed ha un effetto perfezionatore sulle carnagioni chiare, quindi non vedevo l’ora di provarla! Moon River è la mia preferita delle tre, fa quello che promette,ha una consistenza setosa e tiene il trucco al suo posto per tutto il giorno. Tutte e tre le polveri hanno la stessa consistenza sottile e setosa, sono facili da sfumare , non appesantiscono il trucco,minimizzano pori e rughette per un effetto “sfocato”, proprio come quello che si ottiene usando i filtri di IG, e si possono anche mischiare tra loro per un risultato personalizzato. Inoltre tengono sotto controllo la lucidità , qualità per me importante visto che ho la pelle grassa.

Cosa non mi piace: totally toasted è un po’ troppo aranciata per essere usata come polvere per il contouring , e per me è troppo scura per poterla usare come bronzer, io poi uso pochissimo i bronzer perché ho la pelle chiarissima e non mi piace molto l’effetto su di me,quindi in definitiva la uso raramente, solo mischiata con le altre due, ma se avete una carnagione più scura della mia riuscirete ad usarla senza problemi. Sunrise, la polvere gialla, è una valida polvere illuminante ma , anche lei, è troppo gialla per la mia carnagione e devo fare attenzione a non applicarne troppa. Su un colorito medio sarà, invece, perfetta.in conclusione mi piace molto la qualità delle polveri, ma due non sono della tonalità giusta per il mio incarnato, quindi avrei forse dovuto pensarci due volte prima di acquistarla,ma so anche che l’avrei acquistata comunque!

Il mio verdetto: la ricomprerei perché apprezzo l’idea con cui è stata concepita e la qualità è buona, tutte le polveri minimizzano pori e rughette,tengono sotto controllo la lucidità e durano tutto il giorno senza risultare pastose; si può portare in viaggio perché non è assolutamente ingombrante, la dimensione delle cialde è piuttosto grande, quindi anche il rapporto qualità prezzo è,secondo me, buono.

September empties aka all good things come to an end

I don’t know why but my empties box has been full of products for the last few months and I’m really happy about it! I won’t mention everything because I don’t want this post to be too long, let’s start without further ado!

I really enjoyed Hask shampoo and conditioner, here you can read more about them, they have a nice smell, they’re gentle, nourishing,a little of both goes a long way and they’re not expensive! I’d like to repurchase them.

Kiko sunscreen is a staple for me, this one is not available anymore, they renewed their sunblock line but I love it as it’s easy to apply, it’s not greasy, it’s scent free and it’s lightweight.

I used this Alona Schechter day cream as a night cream and it was quite nourishing for my skin type: I had to apply a tiny bit of it else it wouldn’t get absorbed. I think it’s a good product for mature skin and very dry skin, not the best choice for oily skin like mine but I made it work nonetheless.

I love the smell of this World of beauty bath gel, the only downside is it was very runny and I spilled it in the shower everytime I used it. It was almost impossible, at least for me, not to waste some product and that was a pity because I liked it.

This was one of my favourite creamy eyeshadow, it’s a cream to powder eyeshadow to be precise, I used it a lot especially in summer because it was quick to apply, the color pay off was really good, it didn’t crease and it lasted all day!

This eye contour cream has lasted for months, I thought I would have never run out of it but eventually I did! I needed just a tiny bit of it, it was moisturizing, lightweight, it didn’t do miracles but it kept my eye contour area hydrated and that was what I was looking for.

I’ve mentioned how much I love kiko makeup fixer in the past and I still love it to these days because it helps my makeup to stay flawless all day and it also keeps shine at bay, so I’ve already repurchased it!

I didn’t like this hair mask, it actually didn’t do anything for my hair while I was expecting deep conditioning and soft and silky hair…but none of that happened, it’s like an average hair conditioner, nothing more than that…very disappointing.

I finished this gorgeous Kiko highlighter, the texture was almost creamy, it was very pigmented, there weren’t any glitters in it, it stayed on all day and I’m sad it’s not available anymore because I would have definitely repurchased it if I could.

Another Kiko product I finished is the soft focus compact mineral foundation: I use as face powder even though is a foundation and it works great for me as a setting powder, it minimizes pores, it’s not cakey and it keeps shine at bay even when it’s hot and muggy! It’s not the first time I buy it and I’ve already repurchased it, it’s high quality and it’s not expensive!

A quick mention for Lycia anti odorant, you know it’s the only deodorant I use and you always see a tube in my empties box, it works great!

Mac prep and prime face primer was a bit disappointing not because it isn’t a good primer, but because it’s not the primer I look for : I look for a mattifying primer that minimizes pores, and this one just helps makeup last a bit longer but it’s not mattifying and it doesn’t minimize pores. It’s a good primer if you’re looking for a hydrating one that feels very light on your skin, it’s not the best one for oily skin though.

I also finished a bunch of eye products, such as two kiko long lasting stick eyeshadows,that aren’t my favourite to be honest: they dried out fast and I’ve always closed them properly so it’s not because of that. On the other hand I love E.L.F. brow gel, it’s the right color for me, it’s not too red, it’s easy to apply, it lasts all day and it looks natural, it’s definitely a winner just like Kiko eyebrow gel, which is transparent and I used it on top of brow pencils to set them!

I didn’t like the body shop softening cleansing gel: first of all the smell was unpleasant, and second of all it wasn’t a product to write home about, it did its job but there are better ones on the market.

Do you remember the Too Faced Selfie palette? I bought it but to be honest I wouldn’t buy it again. It’s not a bad product, powders were actually fine but there was a bit of fall out, it just wasn’t the best choice for my skin tone: the only powder I could use was the lavender one, the yellow one was too dark for me, it looked very yellow when I applied it, and the bronzer was fine but I don’t use bronzers much . basically I bought it because of the packaging, I should have read more reviews before purchasing it.

I loved Too Faced Absolutely Flawless concealer, it doesn’t crease in my under eye area and it guarantees full coverage, it’s definitely one of the best concealers I’ve ever tried, my favourite along with Bo-ing!

Too Faced primed and poreless face powder is a good product, I used it as primer and as setting powder and it’s very mattifying, the only issue I have with it is when I perspire on my face it gets white and it doesn’t look good at all!

Last two products are my favourite liquid liner, UD waterproof liquid liner in perversion, and Villa borghini hair conditioner!

Non so come mai ma negli ultimi mesi la mia scatola dei prodotti finiti è sempre piena di prodotti, e la cosa mi rende molto felice! Non ve li citerò tutti per non rendere il post troppo lungo, direi quindi di cominciare subito senza indugiare oltre!

Mi sono piaciuti molto lo shampoo e il balsamo Hask, di cui potete leggere la recensione qui, hanno un ottimo profumo, sono delicati, idratanti, non serve usare tanto prodotto e hanno un prezzo abbordabile! Vorrei ricomprarli.

La protezione solare Kiko è un prodotto che non mi faccio mai mancare, questa che vedete non è più disponibile perché hanno rinnovato la gamma solari, ma questa a me piaceva perché si assorbiva facilmente, era priva di profumo, non unge ed è leggera.

Questa crema da giorno di Alona Schechter l’ho usata come crema da notte e, per il mio tipo di pelle, era piuttosto nutriente: ne dovevo applicare una quantità minima altrimenti non si assorbiva. Secondo me è un prodotto valido per le pelli mature e molto secche, non è l’ideale per le pelli grasse come la mia ma sono comunque riuscita ad utilizzarlo.

Adoro il profumo di questo World of beauty bath gel, l’unico lato negativo che aveva era quello di avere una consistenza molto liquida, ne versavo un po’ ogni volta che mi facevo la doccia. Per me era impossibile usarlo senza sprecarne un po’, il che era un peccato perché il prodotto mi piaceva molto.

Questo era uno dei miei ombretti in crema preferiti, per la precisione era un ombretto che da cremoso si trasformava in polvere una volta applicato, l’ho usato spesso soprattutto in estate perché si stendeva velocemente, la pigmentazione era buona, non si infilava nelle pieghette e resisteva tutto il giorno!

Questa crema contorno occhi è durata tantissimo, tanto che pensavo che non sarebbe mai finita, ma poi l’ho terminata! Ne bastava veramente pochissima perché era molto idratante ma leggera, non faceva miracoli ma manteneva la zona del contorno occhi idratata, e questo era quello che volevo dal prodotto.

Vi ho già detto in passato quanto amo il fissatore trucco di Kiko, perché mi aiuta a mantenere il trucco impeccabile tutto il giorno e tiene anche a bada la lucidità, non riesco più a farne a meno, infatti l’ho già acquistato!

Non mi è piaciuta questa maschera per capelli, non ha fatto nulla di speciale per i miei capelli, io mi aspettavo li rendesse morbidi e setosi..invece non è accaduto niente di tutto questo, è paragonabile a un qualsiasi balsamo ed è stata una delusione.

Ho finito questo stupendo illuminante Kiko dalla consistenza quasi cremosa, molto pigmentato, senza glitter al suo interno e a lunga durata. Mi dispiace che non sia più disponibile perché l’avrei sicuramente ricomprato.

Un altro prodotto Kiko che ho terminato è il soft focus compact mineral foundation: lo uso come cipria nonostante sia un fondotinta, e mi ci trovo benissimo, minimizza i pori, non appesantisce e mantiene la pelle opaca anche quando fa caldo e c’è umidità! Non è la prima volta che lo acquisto e l’ho già ricomprato, la qualità è alta e il prodotto non è caro.

Vi cito brevemente il deodorante Lycia che, come sapete, è il mio preferito, infatti ce n’è sempre un tubo nella scatola dei miei prodotti finiti, è eccezionale secondo me!

il Mac prep and prime face primer mi ha leggermente deluso, non perché non sia un prodotto valido, ma perché non è il primer che io cercavo: io voglio una base viso opacizzante che minimizzi i pori, mentre questo prodotto mi aiuta solo a far durare il trucco più a lungo, non opacizza e non minimizza i pori. Lo consiglio a chi cerca una base idratante dalla consistenza leggera, non lo consiglio a chi ha la pelle grassa.

Ho anche finito diversi prodotti occhi, tra cui ci sono due Kiko long lasting stick eyeshadows che, ad essere sincera, non amo molto: si sono seccati velocemente nonostante li abbia sempre chiusi con cura, quindi il motivo non era questo. Mi è piaciuto moltissimo, invece, il gel per sopracciglia di E.L.F., è del colore giusto per me, non è troppo rossiccio, è facile da applicare, dura tutto il giorno e dona un effetto naturale, per me è un prodotto vincente proprio come il gel trasparente per sopracciglia di Kiko, che uso per fissare la matita.

Non mi è piaciuto il the body shop softening cleansing gel: prima di tutto aveva un odore sgradevole, e poi non era niente di eccezionale, faceva il suo lavoro ma ce ne sono di migliori sul mercato.

Vi ricordate la Too Faced Selfie palette? Io l’avevo acquistata ma, ad essere sincera, non la ricomprerei. Non dico che il prodotto non fosse valido, le polveri erano, anzi, sottili anche se leggermente polverose, il problema era che i colori non andavano bene per il mio tono di pelle: ho potuto usare solo la polvere lavanda, quella gialla era troppo scura per me e risultava giallo limone una volta applicata, mentre il bronzer era adatto alla mia carnagione ma è comunque un prodotto che uso poco. Praticamente l’ho acquistata per il packaging, avrei dovuto leggere qualche recensione in più prima di comprarla.

Mi è piaciuto tantissimo il correttore Too Faced Absolutely Flawless , non si infila nelle pieghette della zona contorno occhi e garantisce una copertura totale, è decisamente uno dei correttori migliori che abbia mai provato,il mio preferito insieme al Bo-ing!

Too Faced primed and poreless face powder è una buona polvere viso che ho usato sia come primer che per fissare il fondotinta, l’unico problema che mi ha dato è che, quando traspiravo leggermente sul viso, si formavano delle antiestetiche striature bianche!

Gli ultimi due prodotti sono il mio eyeliner liquido preferito, l’UD waterproof liquid liner in perversion, e un balsamo in crema di Villa Borghini!
