1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Convertible 4-Speed
This 1970 Oldsmobile 442 convertible is a W-30 example that underwent a refurbishment in 2009 and was previously featured on BaT in March 2019. It is powered by a 455ci Rocket V8 linked to a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip rear differential, and the car rides on 14″ Super Stock I wheels with reproduction Firestone Wide Oval tires. The exterior is finished in Platinum and features a power-operated black convertible top, a dual exhaust system, and black stripes accenting the ram air hood and bodysides. The cabin is outfitted with an AM/FM radio, an eight-track player, a Hurst shifter, woodgrain trim, and Strato bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl. This 442 W-30 convertible is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in California with a clean Montana title in the name of the owner’s LLC.
The car was ordered in Platinum (14) with a black soft top and stripes on the hood and bodysides, and it underwent a refurbishment reportedly in 2009. Equipment includes a power-operated black convertible top, quad headlights, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, “442” badging, and dual exhaust outlets with trumpet-style finishers.
The Super Stock I 14″ wheels are mounted with reproduction Firestone Wide Oval tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The Strato bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl, and woodgrain trim accents the dashboard, center console, and doors. Interior appointments include an AM/FM radio, an eight-track player, a Hurst shifter, and a cabin heater.
The Custom Sport steering wheel fronts Rally Pac instrumentation enclosed in a woodgrain gauge surround. The five-digit odometer shows 2,100 miles. The seller notes that it was reset to zero during the 2009 refurbishment, and total mileage is unknown.
The 455ci V8 features a Rochester four-barrel carburetor, an aluminum intake manifold, and factory ram-air induction, and it was factory-rated at 370 horsepower in W-30 trim.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Muncie wide-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with a W27 cover and 3.42:1 gearing.
