1964 Porsche 356C Coupe
This 1964 Porsche 356C is a Karmann-built coupe built on October 9, 1963 and originally delivered to California. It was refurbished at Gallery Aaldering in the Netherlands and imported to the US after the current owner’s acquisition in 2023. The car is finished in silver over red leatherette and is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four and four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a Blaupunkt multi-band radio, a Brantz digital tripmeter, VDO instrumentation, 15” wheels, and four-wheel disc brakes. The dual Dellorto carburetors were rebuilt within the last year, and the steering coupler, wheel bearing seals, shocks, and ignition components were replaced. This 356C was listed on BaT in August 2024 and is now offered again on dealer consignment in Arizona with a copy of the Kardex, a tool roll, and a clean Florida title listing it as a 1963 model.
Finished from the factory in Slate Gray, the car was repainted silver during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior details include a windshield washer system, a twin-grille decklid, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear overriders.
Silver-finished 15” steel wheels wear polished Porsche-crest hubcaps and are mounted with 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Work performed in 2024 included replacing the steering coupler, wheel bearing seals, and Sachs shocks. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs.
The cabin has been retrimmed in red leatherette that extends to the seats, door panels, dashboard pad, and rear bulkhead. Black squareweave carpets line the floors, and a Blaupunkt multi-band radio is accompanied by an analog clock. Discoloration on the left rear jump seat upholstery can be viewed in the gallery along with pitting on the interior brightwork. A Brantz International 2 Pro digital tripmeter has been installed below the dash.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO green-letter instrumentation consisting of a central 6k-rpm tachometer flanked by a 200-km/h speedometer and a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 454 kilometers (~282 miles), and total mileage is unknown.
The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four is equipped with dual Dellorto carburetors that were rebuilt in 2024. The distributor cap, ignition coil, and battery were also replaced. Compression test results are presented in the gallery.
The engine number P☆711022☆ is shown above, and a corresponding number is listed on the Kardex.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle, production numbers for which can be viewed in the gallery.
A copy of the Kardex report lists factory colors, equipment, identification numbers, and delivery to R.E. Cunningham & Son of Los Angeles, California.
A tool roll will accompany the car.
