A Syrena Car from Poland

 Centrum Promocji Motoryzacji

Jesienia 1954 r. zapadla decyzja o budowie prototypow samochodu Syrena, bedacych konstrukcyjnym rozwinieciem przedprototypu w wersji I. Do marca 1955 roku wykonano piec jednakowych pojazdow. Jeden z nich wystawiono na XXIV Miedzynarodowych Targach Poznanskich, gdzie wzbudzil ogromne zainteresowanie zwiedzajacych.  W prototypie zastosowano nowy silnik, ktory zostal opracowany w Wytworni Sprzetu Mechanicznego w Bielsku-Bialej (pozniejszy FAP). W stosunku do przedprototypow sylwetka samochodu nie ulegla wiekszym zmianom, natomiast dolna czesc nadwozia wykonano z blachy stalowej, a dach mial szkielet drewniany. W lipcu 1955 roku podjeto decyzje o uruchomieniu seryjnej produkcji Syreny w FSO w Warszawie, z zalozeniem docelowej rocznej produkcji 10 000 szt.

This is from an on-line translator:
Promotion Center of Automotive Industry

In the autumn of 1954. The decision was made to build prototypes of the car Syrena, which are structural unfolding pre-prototype version I. March 1955, we performed the same furnace vehicles. One of them exposed to the XXIV International Fair in Poznan, where he aroused great interest of visitors. The prototype uses a new engine, which was developed in Mechanical Production Plant in Bielsko-Biala (the later FAP). In relation to przedprototypow silhouette of the car has not changed much, while the lower part of the body is made of steel and the roof had a wooden skeleton. In July 1955 it was decided to launch serial production of sirens in the FSO in Warsaw, presuming the target annual production of 10 000 pieces.

The Syrena was a Polish automobile model first exhibited at the Poznań Trade Fair in 1955 and manufactured from 1957 to 1972 by the Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych (FSO) in Warsaw and from 1972 to 1983 by Fabryka Samochodów Małolitrażowych (FSM) in Bielsko-Biała.

Zakuwam na Okraglo - A Woodpecker in Poland

Zakuwam na Okraglo

The sender writes...
Well when you say "zakuwam na okraglo" everyone understands that you study all the time. But when we think what these words mean literally, we also get another meaning and it is shown in the postcard  (this is what woodpecker is doing).  It is an idiom, so we don't translate it literally it’s only shown this way in the postcard to be more interesting and funny.

This postcard is postmarked from Poland in 2007.

I love how he is carving math problems into the tree ;-)
