Abstract

A method of forming smooth hard surfaces of free oxide occlusions comprises plasma spraying low carbon steel powder with 20 - 35% Cr; 1.2 - 4.2% B; up to 25% Ni; 3% Mo; 1.5% Mn, 2.0% Si, 0.1% C, a total of up to 2% of one or more niobium, tantalum, titanium and tungsten the remainder being iron, grain sizes are 0.035-0.15 mm.
