A steel comprises Ni 9À5 - 14% Co 6 - 10% C 0À06 - 0À16% Mo 0À7 - 1À5% Cr 0À5 - 3À0% the balance, apart from less than about 0À7% in total of Mn, Si and Al (the latter not being above 0À025%) and residual amounts of P, S, N and 0, being iron. The alloy may be austenitized at 1500‹F., water quenched and aged at 400-1200‹F.
