Abstract

A martensitic stainless steel has the following percetage composition:- .C.trace.-0.1 .Si.trace.-0.5 .Mn.trace.-1 .Ni..3-6 .Cr..10.5-14 .Ti.(8-18).times C Fe the remainder The ti may be wholly or partly replaced by 2 parts Nb and the steel may include up to 4% Mo. After hot and cold working it may be annealed at 1400-1600 DEG F. and aged at 1000 DEG F. After welding the steel may be annealed at 900 or 1000 DEG F.
