Psychomania at the BFI

Thanks to our friend Tom Baldwin for alerting us to this:

Spotted that the latest film review in Sideburn, "Psychomania," (one of my long time guilty favourites) has just been remastered for HD DVD, and will be released on the 19th September. To coincide with this, they're showing it at the BFI (British Film Institute)with a Q and A session with the lead actor, Nicky Henson. Find out more at BFI Flipside Psychomania.

Hope it's of interest to you, and perhaps to other Sideburn readers?

All the best, Tom

The Containment Conflicts

Another mind-boggling short film from Icon.
I rode the Ural in this film, The Quartermaster, when I was over in Portland. It was surprisingly good. G

Zombie McQ by MP (CFH) for SB

Summer's here! Really. Time to get a new Sideburn shirt, surely. This one was both illustrated and modelled by Maxwell Paternoster, the prez of the Corpses From Hell Motorcycle Gang.

There are a lot of companies after your T-shirt pounds/ euro/ dollars/ dirhams, BUT we're pretty sure this is the only T-shirt in the world to depict a Zombie Steve McQueen with a dead and decapitated Nazi stormtrooper strapped to his petrol tank. It's a no-brainer.

It's printed in England on a lovely soft, Gildan ringspun shirt. Get yours for just £15 plus post. At the Sideburn webshop. G

PS If summer isn't where you're at, we have wooly hats too.

Zombie in France

From François in France...

Hi Gary, the zombie print has well arrived in France, and as been sent straight away to the framer, you'll find enclose a picture with the Challenge One poster as well.
They're making a nice pair in my stairs, as I have no garage for the moment.
As a consequence, the transformation of my 1970 honda CB125 twin into a CL175 scrambler lookalike is a bit difficult and it's not progressing very fast.
I'll send you some pictures when it'll be ready.
Thanks for your work and keep on making us dream !

Warholian Zombie McQueen

From Dusty Terry, Portland

So here is a Warholian McQueen lino cut print I made about a year ago. My girlfriend and I jokingly called it Zombie McQueen. Then your shirt and sticker came out... I'd like the spy cams removed from my house please, you filthy pervs!
Anyway, this print is mostly rubbish and barely recognnisable as Steve, but I thought you guys might get a laugh out of it if nothing else.
Bye, Dusty Terry

Terry also made, and sent us, the leather belt loops 'for people who keep their keys outside their pants' and the postcard below. Talented fella. Thanks Terry. Hey, did you also have the Triumph with the crazy exhausts and rude tank?

Zombies and the Charge of the Light Brigade

We've sold out of small and medium Zombie sweatshirts and have a few large and XL left. It was designed by Maxwell at Corpses from Hell and is modelled here by Norm at Motorcycho. Get yours at the Sideburn shop.
The sweatshirt we print on has Raglan sleeves. They're named after Lord Raglan (below), the British Lord who was so murderously stubborn he wouldn't talk to a fellow commanding officer during the Crimean War and helped send the Light Brigade charging to towards a battery of Russian cannon - the infamous charge of the Light Brigade.
The dispute, with Lord Cardigan, was all over a woman if I remember correctly. Anyway, Raglan lost his arm and his tailor designed a new sleeve construction to help the Lord get dressed more easily.
Final bit of the history lesson, the Light Brigade - so named because they were cavalry mounted on faster, lighter charger horses, unlike the Heavy Brigade mounted on huge shire horse haulers - are now the Queen's Royal Lancers. Both the Light Brigade and QRL wear the 'Or Glory' badge (bottom). G

Sideburn 8 Launch Party

Sideburn 8 goes to the printers in just over a week. We're having a little launch of it the week it's printed at a cafe in London we wanted to check out - Reilly Rocket. The cafe are supplying free tasty, hot beverages and cake (till they run out). We've never visited the place, but think it's pretty small. We'll be spilling outside.
The new mag, Full Lock T-shirts, new embroidered patches and Zombie sweatshirts will be for sale. Everyone who comes will get their own free A4 event poster, created by the mighty Chris Watson and, if they're made in time, new free stickers.
There's going to be a big prize for our favourite bike ridden to the event. It doesn't have to be the fanciest, or a street tracker or anything like that, just the one we like the most and we've got broad tastes. We'll judge it and give out prizes at 8.30, so if you clear off before you won't win. The prize is huge, so if you're in it to win it, bring a bungee net.
AND special guest, Travis 747 Rider from Colorado is going to be over. He's a hero. In fact, I've just decided, he's the judge.
Feel free to blog this poster to spread the word. A few riders have got in touch from London to say they've got a bike and no one to ride with. Hopefully they'll all meet here and ride happily ever after. G

Isle of Man update

I love getting the ferry to the Isle of Man, but flying in on a sunny morning is good too. I'd only been here an hour when Jamie (with the Bastard) walked by me in a Sideburn T-shirt. Going meet up with Jeff, Fatty and Dustin from Church of Choppers/ FTWCo/Sinners later. And Antonio Merinero (whose work is for sale in the Sayle gallery in Douglas) and Victor from Madrid. Saw Mark Miller too. His mechanic was given a new Aprilia road bike in a crate to turn into a race bike in a day. They were still trying to get the carbon fairing to fit two hours before final practice.
Hung around with Guy in his secret lair last night. He was very pleased with his new Zombie sweatshirt. Get yours at the Sideburn shop before they all go.
It's the Dainese-sponsored Superbike TT today. Pray to your god that the riders (and fans) are safe and that Guy wins. G
