Steeleye Span are a British Folk Rock Band from London, formed in. 1969 by Fairport Convention Bass Player Ashley Hutchings and established London Folk Clue Duo Tim Hart and Maddy Prior.  The band were part of the 1970s British Folk Revival and were commercially successful in that period, with four Top 40 Albums and two Hit Singles "Gaudete" and "All Around My Hat".

Richard Thompson is a British Songwriter, Guitarist, and he was a member of Fairport Convention in 1967.  Artists who have recorded Thompson's compositions such as R.E.M., David Gilmour, Mary Black, Elvis Costello, The Corrs, Sandy Denny, June Tabor, Maria McKee, Graham Parker, Shawn Colvin, Nanci Griffith, Los Lobos, The Pointer Sisters, Dinosaur Jr., David Byrne, Loudon Wainwright III, Bob Mould, Greg Brown, Del McCoury and many more!  He was awarded The Orville H. Gibson Award for Best Acoustic Guitar Player in 1991, Ivor Novello Award and in 2006, a Lifetime Achievement Award from BBC Radio, and he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2011 New Year Honours for services to music on July 2011, he also was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Aberdeen.  He was named by Rolling Stones Magazine's as one the Top 20 Guitarist of All Time and considered one of the UK's most outstanding Songwriters and Musicians.  The recipient of a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award, Mojo's Les Paul Award.  Thompson was most recently honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting by Americana Music Association.
