557,508. Open-hearth furnaces. BRASSERT & CO., Ltd., H. A., MILES, J., and NISSIM, R. May 16, 1942, Nos. 7847/43 and 7848/43. Divided out of 557,484. [Class 51 (ii)] An open-hearth furnace having a charging section of its roof constructed so as to be movable to enable the furnace to be charged from above is provided with front and back walls 30, 31 inclined upwardly and outwardly from the hearth at an angle not materially less than the angle of repose of the lining material of the hearth which is fed over the hearth and walls from a hopper 33. The Specification also describes roofs for open-hearth furnaces similar to those described in Specification 557,484. Specifications 242,607, [Class 51 (ii)], and 542,239 also are referred to.
