1980s Snow White Figurines by Wade

Circa 1938, Wade Potteries of England issued a set of ceramic Disney Snow White figurines (see earlier Archive entry). Many years later, from 1981 to 1986, they would produce another. These newer pieces were designed by artist Alan Maslankowski. Brightly painted with a glossy finish. They range between 3-4" in height.

In the previous post, see the 2009 non-Disney set of Snow White of figurines by Wade.

2009 Wade Porcelain Figures

A set of porcelain figurines produced by Wade of England in 2009. Ten figures in all. Approximate measurements: Prince 3.5", Snow White and Witch 3", Dwarfs 2". Each is marked Wade on side base.

The pieces do bare a resemblance to the Disney characters. However, this set was not licensed by the Disney Company. Thus the artwork needed to be different enough so as to not run into copyright issues. Nonetheless, we can still pretty much tell which dwarf corresponds to their Disney counterparts. From left to right: Grumpy, Happy, Sneezy, Bashful, Sleepy, Dopey, and Doc.

A special limited edition of 50 gold-base sets was also produced.

Individual dwarfs are pictured on the tea cups and saucers (although some saucers are plain except for the red trim).

A couple Pinocchio pieces (circa 1940) are pictured with this Grumpy cup.

The Deer and Rabbit also made it onto the saucer.

The plates also display the individual dwarfs, encircled by two red lines. Diameter: approximately 5" (12.5 cm).

This larger but less common plate features four small images: Sneezy, Sleepy, Deer, and Rabbit. Measures 7.75" across. Part of a set which included the regular pieces as well as a jam jar and toast rack.
