Zelda goes to ask the four greatest warriors of Hyrule to pilot the Divine Beasts. Link accompanies her as her personal knight. They are running out of time, but the disfunctioning relationships between the champions, the hero and the princess become apparent.
Or: Mipha and Link are obsessed with eachother to an increadibly toxic degree, Zelda is sefl-sabotageing, Urbosa worries about Zelda and wants to protect her from everything, Daruk is not the sharpest tool in the box, and Revali is an arrogant, narcissistic chicken with serious anger management issues. And King Rhoam is a terrible father. Did I forget something?

Summary
As Link's name is called, a wave of murmurs sweeps through the crowd. He steps forward, his heart pounding in his chest. He tries to block out the noise, to focus on the moment, but he can feel the weight of their eyes on him.
He kneels before the king, his head bowed. “Link of Hateno,” Rhoam says, his voice firm and commanding, “You have proven yourself with courage and skill. By the power vested in me as the King of Hyrule, I dub thee, knight of the realm. Rise, Sir Link.”
Link rises, feeling the weight of his new title settling on his shoulders. He turns to step back, but his eyes instinctively flick up to the balcony once more, just for a moment.
There she is, watching him. And for that brief instant, their eyes meet. His heart races, and he feels a warmth spread through him, a foolish hope that perhaps she sees something in him too. But then, the moment ends as quickly as it began, her gaze moving elsewhere.
-An alternate retelling of the events leading to the calamity before the events of Breath of the Wild with integrated memories and journal entries.
