B. Motivation

“Okay class I have here a short video that will

presenting on the Television. And I want
everyone to pay attention to the five minutes
video. Get a piece of paper and jot down
something that you think that is being
important. Don’t make a noise that cause
distraction to your other classmate. Is that
clear?
Okay sir!

I guess time is almost done and had you

enjoyed watching the video? Yes, sir its very interesting!

I will post here a tarpapel picture of a

psychologist person who makes a theory
about the theory of cognitive
development.
(The teacher will post the picture)
Can you guess who is in the picture on
the board. Mr. Cubos based on the video
I presented lately who is he?

He is Jean Piaget sir!

Correct he is Jean Piaget

Jean Piaget was born in Switzerland on
What can you share about him before August 9, 1896, and he began showing an
we proceed to our group activity! Ms. interest in the natural sciences at a very early
Libalib age. By age 11, he had already started his
career as a researcher by writing a short paper
on an albino sparrow. He continued to study
the natural sciences and received his Ph.D. in
zoology from the University of Neuchâtel in

Piaget placed great importance on the education

of children. As the Director of the International
Bureau of Education, he declared in 1934 that
"only education is capable of saving our
societies from possible collapse, whether
violent, or gradual."] His theory of child
development is studied in pre-service education
programs. Educators continue to incorporate
constructivist-based strategies. Piaget created
the International Center for Genetic
Epistemology in Geneva in 1955 while on the
faculty of the University of Geneva and
directed the Center until his death in 1980. The
number of collaborations that its founding made
possible, and their impact, ultimately led to the
Center being referred to in the scholarly
literature as "Piaget's factory"

The sensorimotor stage is the first stage of your

child's life, according to Jean Piaget's theory of
child development. It begins at birth and lasts
through age 2. During this period, your little
one learns about the world by using their senses
to interact with their surroundings.
The preoperational stage is the second stage in
Piaget's theory of cognitive development. This
stage begins around age two and lasts until
CTE
approximately age seven. During this period,

children are thinking at a symbolic level but are

not yet using cognitive operations.

The concrete operational stage is the third stage

in Piaget's theory of cognitive development.
The child is now mature enough to use logical
thought or operations rules but can only apply
logic to physical objects hence concrete
operational.
The formal operational stage begins at
approximately age twelve and lasts into
adulthood. As adolescents enter this stage, they
gain the ability to think in an abstract manner
by manipulating ideas in their head, without any
dependence on concrete manipulation

For the last group, group three kindly post your

output here. Three basic Piaget’s Cognitve Theory
1. Schemas/schemes. These are the
building blocks of knowledge.
schemes are mental organization
that individuals use to understand
their environment designate action.
2. Adaptation it involves the child’s
learning processes to meet
situational demands
3. Stages of cognitive development
they reflect the increasing
sophistication of the child’s thought

write it in ½ crosswise paper. I will call

one student to share his/her thought this
quotation and the rest I will read your
output on my vacant time. It be graded
as class recitation is that cleared? I will
give you 3mins to make it.

“the self thus becomes aware of itself,

at least in its practical action, and
discover its itself as a cause among
other causes and as an object subject to
the same laws as other objects”
-Jean Piaget

Ms. Carmela can you share your thought

about this quotation. Thinking back to my primary schooling I see
myself as an excite
d, conscientious and avid learner motivated by
understanding the unknown. I loved exploring
the world using my imagination, literature and
by getting my hands dirty. I loved questioning
how things worked by interrogating and
disturbing seemingly complex systems like
water fountains, garage doors or anything with
buttons. It is said that all children are born
with curious minds. I believe curiosity is an
innate aspect of childhood that drives the
learning process. “The universe is built up into
an aggregate of permanent object connected
by casual relations. The self thus becomes
aware of itself, at least in its practical action,
and discovers itself as a cause among other
causes and as an object subject to the same
laws as other objects.” I too believe it is the
interaction between a subject and its
environment which is fundamental to the
process of learning. However, in addition to
this, I believe that learning deeply involves
asking questions, testing ideas and finding
answers. I argue that this process of
interacting with and questioning our
environment is what constitutes learning.
Very well said, Ms. Carmela De Jesus.

Before we end our class for this session who

wants to make some summary of our topic for
today. And share your reflection about it. Mr.
Joshua can you share? The main assumption of cognitive theory is
that thoughts are the primary determinants of
emotions and behavior. The cognitive
approach to learning believes that CTE

mental processes can be scientifically studied.

Jean Piaget, a cognitivist, believed children
progressed through a series of four key stages
of cognitive development. Although the stages
correspond with an approximate age, Piaget's
stages are flexible in that if the child is ready,
they can reach a stage
