Csvi Competency Statement VI
My commitments to being professional as and educator starts with being respectful to the
children and their family. I exude professionalism by being kind and polite to everyone, I present a
professional image in my attitude and dress, and by showing up for work fully prepared.
CS VI a: Growing up in a household with four younger siblings, then watching them grow up and have
their own children were two of the many reasons I chose to become and Early childhood educator.
Watching my nieces and nephews grow and learn new things daily motivated me to want to learn
deeper in childhood development. As I watched them grow, both physically and emotionally, I became
more enthusiastic and eager about learning about their decisions and brain development. I like to think
that I’ve had firsthand learning with children as I’ve helped raised all my nine nieces and nephews, the
oldest being nineteen. Supporting them emotionally and helping them academically has been a very
rewarding feeling and has pushed me to study so that I can prepare for a professional career as an Early
childhood educator. Even though I’ll always be available to my family, I always knew I wanted to expand
my knowledge and help all the children possible throughout my life and career. I was fortunate to have
been employed at a daycare and have a taste of what working with other children is like. I was able to
observe how enthusiastic children become while learning new things and the many ways a child can
learn. I truly enjoy the major impact I can have in a child’s life just by being and Early Childhood
educator.
CS VI b: I believe professionalism should be kept at any work area and within every career, especially
when working with children. One of the many indicators of professionalism I believe I possess is the
pride I take in the work I do. I like to give my best and honest work, so that I feel secure and content
about what I am doing. I also consider myself a caring and patient person; I like to pour my heart into
what I am doing so that I can succeed, while helping others succeed as well. I find it simple and easy to
be patient when working with children because I have worked with children most of my life. I am
compassionate yet dedicated to help any child be successful. Most importantly, I believe being
responsible is a major quality and true indicator of professionalism that I possess. I value my time, as
well as others, and I know how important it to present myself at the expected time. I also understand
that being responsible includes following rules and being prepared. I think it’s important to know that
working with children comes with many responsibilities; children deserve complete respect from any
adult. I believe this helps built their confidence, encouraging them to communicate and ask questions
and/or for clarification when needed.
