Learning Experiences

RC II-1 Science/Sensory: Soft Toys and Sensory Tubes: Ages 3-5

We allowed the kids to play with toys such as soft blocks and soft puzzles, and we also gave

them tubes with smaller toys that move around inside such as balls or other small shapes. This is

developmentally appropriate for this age group because it allows them to experience new

feelings they haven’t felt before.

RC II-2 Languages and Literature: Writing Names, Drawing, and Reading Books: Ages

3-5

The kids had access to a small library in the classroom with books for them to read, and we also

helped them practice writing by drawing pictures or writing their names on their worksheets.

This is developmentally appropriate because it encourages the children to develop their creativity

and their ability to write as well.

RC II-3 Creative Arts: Coloring and Crafts: Ages 3-5

The kids were encouraged to color pictures by themselves, and they also made little crafts where

they could choose what to use. This included painting and decorating with stickers and glitter.

This is developmentally appropriate because it helps the not only to develop artistic skills, but

also attention to detail.

RC II-4 Fine Motor: Puzzles and Worksheets: Ages 3-5

The kids were allowed to play with puzzles in the class, and they also got to do worksheets

where they had to figure out what pieces went with which group on the paper. This is
developmentally appropriate because it allows them to develop problem solving skills that can

help them later in life.

RC II-5 Gross Motor: Playing Outside: Ages 3-5

The kids had recess everyday where they could run around and play with outdoor toys. This is

developmentally appropriate because it helps the kids to build physical strength and stamina.

RC II-6 Self Concept: Encouraging the Children to Think for Themselves: Ages 3-5

The kids were encouraged to be independent and come up with their own ideas, as well as share

their ideas with the other kids as well. They also could hear ideas from other children and gain

some insight. This is developmentally appropriate because it will allow the kids to develop their

own beliefs and morals for themselves.

RC II-7 Emotional Skills/Regulation: Ages 3-5

The kids learned about emotions as well as how to interact with other children when they feel

sad, mad, or happy. This is developmentally appropriate because they will be able to interact

with other children, and they will be able to solve problems and make friends.

RC II-8 Social Skills: Ages 3-5

Kids were encouraged to play and interact with each other while doing work or during their free

time. They were also encouraged to share and be nice to each other too. As mentioned before,

this is developmentally appropriate because they will be able to interact with each other and

make friends while in school.

RC II-9 Mathematics: Math Worksheets and Computer Games: Ages 3-5

The children accomplished math worksheets, and did interactive games to help them develop

their math skills. This is developmentally appropriate because they will need mathematics in the

future as they get older, so they are basically getting a head start for their future.
