The Eight Parts of Speech

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students must have:

1. To know the eight parts of speech;

2. Identified and explained the different parts of speech; and

3. Create a sentence applying the parts of speech by writing or oral.

2. Ask the students what parts of speech they


already know.

3. Introduction of the lesson.

Noun: is a name person, place, animals thing, Student will give some examples and used
or idea. it in a sentence.
ex. ( Peter.Dog, Rome, Science, Table)

Types of Noun

 Common Noun – it is not a


specific name of a person, place,
animal, thing or idea.

 Proper Noun- it is a specific name of a


person, place, animals, thing or idea.

Pronoun: is a word that takes the place of a


noun.
ex. ( I. you, she, he, they)

Adjective: is a word that describes a noun or


pronoun. It tells what kind, how
many, or which one.
ex. ( green shirt, sour lime)

Verb: is the action of the sentence. It shows


what someone or something is doing.
ex. ( run, paint, read)

Adverb: describes how the action is performed.


They tell how much, how often, when
and where something is done.
ex. ( The fish jumped quickly from the
water.)

Conjunction: a word that joins words or group


words together.
ex.(and, but, or, nor, yet, so, although,
either, and also)
Preposition: a word that shows position or,
direction.
ex.(in, out, under, over,between)

Interjection: a word that shows strong


emotion.
ex.(Wow!, Ouch!, Hurray! and Oh no!)

F. Application

 Ask your students to get into groups of 5.


 Give each group member 5 index cards and assign each person a part of
speech.
 Have your students write 10 examples for their parts of speech on the 5
index cards. Ask your students to write one word on the front and one
word on the back of the card.
 Set the timer to 5 minutes.
 After the timer goes off, ask each group to create as many sentences as
they can using the cards. Ask students to write down the sentences they
created on a sheet of paper.
 Set the timer to 5 minutes.
 After the timer goes off, have members from each group read the
sentences they wrote out loud.

IV. Evaluation

Directions: Choice the correct parts of speech that is used in the sentence.

V. Assignment

1. Ask your students to complete the parts of speech worksheet.


2. Ask your students to identify the 8 parts of speech that they've learned in
each sentence on the worksheet.
