For a long time, Playtech offered a slew of different Marvel comic book themed video slots with attached progressive jackpots. After Disney acquired Marvel in 2009 they declined to renew the licensing deal and once it expired, Disney mandated that the games go away. Playtech soon announced the signing of an agreement to create replacement games based on characters from DC Comics. This lead to the creation of the series of DC Super Heroes Jackpots, which are direct replacements for the formerly popular Marvel jackpots.

The jackpot grows with every single non-winning spin of the reels, as a portion of the wagered amount goes into the jackpot pool. This pool then funds the different jackpot prizes attached to the game. The jackpot is won completely randomly, with the prize able to be won at any given time. This makes the prize accessible, although those with larger spin amounts may have a better chance at taking home one of the larger prizes.

The slate of games that Playtech has developed with the DC Comics license are impressive. The slots on offer include Justice League, Superman (based on the 1978 classic), Batman and Catwoman Cash (based on the hokey 60s show), and more. These games have assets right from the properties themselves, and bring high quality sound and video straight to your screen.

While the loss of the Marvel slots may have stung short-term, there's no doubt that Playtech's DC line of games is much more modern. The games actually have modern video assets as opposed to hand-drawn cartoons that were reminiscent of the actual comics themselves. These popular DC characters, combined with the huge jackpot prizes, are likely to ensure that the DC Super Heroes series of games will be around well into the future.
