Blackjack Surrender information

The object of the game is the same as for the classical Blackjack game; you need for the total of your cards to be closer to 21 than the dealer's cards without exceeding 21. You get to do this with up to five hands you can play simultaneously. The game has a few exceptions to the standard Blackjack rules: you may not split a split hand; only one card is draw to split aces, the dealer will check for Blackjack if his up card is an ace or a ten-valued card; and you can surrender on the first two cards if the dealer checks for Blackjack.

The "late surrender" option

The surrender option in this games is termed "late surrender". If the dealer has checked for Blackjack you can Surrender and half of your original bet is returned to you, and your hand is over. This means that you don't have a chance of surrendering when the dealer has a blackjack. This rule is advantageous to the player, but only makes a 0.08% difference to the house edge. Blackjack games where you are allowed to surrender before the dealer peeks for a blackjack are termed "early surrender" and are rare due to the large player advantage this rule confers (around 0.24%).

How to play Blackjack Surrender

Click on the chips to increase your bet. Every click on the chips increases the bet and a right click on the table chips removes them from the bet. You do this for the five hands you are playing simultaneously and you can place different bets for each hand. You play each of the five hands as if they were individual hands. You then click on Deal and you and the dealer are dealt your cards. If the dealer has an ace as his up card you will now be offered to make an Insurance bet if you want to by clicking on the Insurance button.

You will then as required click Hit, Stand, Double, Split, or Hold for each of the five hands. You can Surrender on the first two cards after the dealer checks for blackjack and this is when you would do it. If you surrender you lose half of your initial wager and the game round is over for that particular hand.

We have provided a basic strategy chart to the right to use when playing blackjack. Just look up your hand down the left side, and go across to the column corresponding to the dealer's visible card and there you will find the correct move to make.
