American Express payments at online casinos
American Express first moved into the financial services industry by going into the money order business. It later developed their then unique product, traveller's cheques. Today the company is mostly know for its credit and debit cards, which is what we think of when we say American Express, one of the world's most expensive and well-known brand names. American Express cards account for about 24% of total credit card transactions in the United States.
American Express works pretty much like any credit card. To make a deposit at a casino you will need to provide your name, card number, amount, expiration date and the security number at the back of your card. There may be a set credit limit provided by your bank, although several variants of the card have no pre-set spending limit and instead operate as a "charge card" where the balance must be paid in full at the end of each month.
Many casinos do not accept American Express cards, the reason being that said casinos do not accept American players and thus their payment options. Most casinos that do accept transactions via AmEx will usually only accept deposits, leaving the player to use another method to receive their withdrawals.
