Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove deposits adsorbed on an ink jet surface by a method wherein a recording head is moved to a position which comes in contact with a head cleaning mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When printing is suspended, the recording head 1 stands by at position A and when printing is resumed, it moves to position B. During this movement, the front of the recording head 1 comes in contact with the head cleaning mechanism 3 and the adsorptive material at the front of the recording head 1 is removed. At the end of recording, also, cleaning is conducted similarly. The head cleaning mechanism 3 has a cleaning roller 5 fixed rotatively to a shaft and in said roller 5 an ink absorbing larger 9 composed of porous material or the like easy to absorb ink is fixed to the metal or plastic shaft 6 through soft rubber material 8.
