Abstract
1343264 Measuring Pressure Electrically BENDIX CORP 25 Aug 1972 [22 Sept 1971] 39795/72 Heading G1N A pressure-to-electric transducer comprises a closed canister body 12 with movable wall means 14 responsive to the pressure difference between the interior and exterior of the canister to vary the disposition of a wiper 20 relative to a resistive coil 18 to generate an electrical signal representing differential pressure, a ratchet-wheel 50 fixed to the resistive coil and rotated by a bimetal coil 62 responsive to cyclic variations of temperature, to rotate the resistive coil relative to the wiper. In this way the wear due to the wiper is uniformly distributed about the circumference of the resistive coil, which it is stated extends the life of the transducer. An escapement mechanism in the form of a resilient cantilever spring 64 allows incremental rotation in one direction.
