ThrowBack Thursday Card Tins

Well here is a blast from the past for Throwback Thursday.

Its a shabby chic card tin.

This card tin was made by me well over 10 years ago.

I made it while visiting my friends Connie, and Lisa.

Remember when fibers were all the rage in crafting? I sure do.

I'll have to take a photo of my fiber drawer. Yes I kept them, as

I'm sure they will make a come back!

LOL looking at the handle it looks like a giant wooly caterpillar.

I do still use the tin to hold cards even though I never got around

to labeling the tabs. Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and break

out the dymo label maker and fix that.

Now this black and white one was made for me by

Connie and Lisa. Just adore it! Its well over 10 year old also.

There are some pink trims with the black and white ones on the handle.

The girls did a better job than I did because they did put

labels on the dividers.

and....while cleaning off the bottom shelve I found these.

The tins are in 3 different sizes. So I do have a large one so

I can make another one. May have to do that one day.

Crayon Embossing Folder Technique

The map background has been sitting on my desk all week,

and I needed to do something with it.

The embossing folder used is called Global. (retired SU)

I tried something new. First I embossed the white cardstock

took it out of the big shot and just opened up the folder.

While the cardstock was still in place I used the side of

a crayon (it had the paper wrapper completely removed)

to color the raised area. Crayon color was blue/green.

By keeping the cardstock in the folder it kept the raised image from

being pushed flat while the coloring was done.

Embossed panel is layered on Marina Mist, and I drew little

dashed lines around it.

Stamps used are from a retired SAB set.

I did the same plane on the inside and added a few dashed lines.

So the Cleveland Indians have won 12 games in a row!

The last time they done that was in 1951. WOW!

Something has lit a fire under them. They are heading to Canada to

take on Toronto this weekend. Lets see if they can make it a bakers dozen.

GO TRIBE!!!!!

Throwback Thursday Vintage Pineapple

Well pineapples are trending now. I'm seeing them in all the stores.

Stampin'Up even has a large single pineapple in their new catalog.

Well I remembered that I had a pineapple in the Fresh Fruit stamp set.

Its a pretty vintage set going back to 1999.

Here is  photo of the complete set. Love the vintage feel these stamps have. I

guess that is why I've held onto it all these years.

I've paired the vintage pineapple with some new things.

The splat is from Tim Holtz. Its part of a thinlit set that has a scribble heart,

and other things in it.

The embossed background a Sizzix sunburst embossing folder.

I just use sponges to add ink on the raised areas.

Love this folder. I've used it several times before, but really need to use it more often.

See the pin holding the word delight? I found them hiding in

my hardware drawer.....yes I have a hardware embellishment drawer.

These are also by Tim Holtz.

It's been a little nippy here for the first week of June.

It went down into the 40's last night, and is only going to reach 70 today.

Think I might be baking something today. Maybe a nice casserole, or

brownies!

Throwback Thursday Metallic Pencils

Welcome to throwback Thursday. Every once in awhile I

have the urge to dig out old stamping supplies and give them another go.

Now I know you may be thinking hey wait a minute the Swallowtail stamp

hasn't been around that long, but just hang on.....

Who remembers the Metallic Art Pencils?

They came in a set of 12 with a very cool twist apart plastic case to hold them.

There is no date on the case so I'm not sure when they came out, but I know it was a long time ago.
The pencils are soft and very nice to color with.
If you take another look at the card I colored you can see a "bloom" of color
around the butterfly. That's because after I added the color I wiped the image with a tissue.
The color spread out and gave the image a halo effect.
I've had these sitting in the middle part of the carousel I keep stamping tools in.
The top of the case had the most unique layer of "vintage" dust I've ever seen!

I found this cute little plastic storage container that I just had to buy.

I stamped the top with the butterflies from Kindness Matters stamp set (retired)

The stamp was inked with VersaMark. I embossed the image with white embossing powder,

and used the purple pencil to add the color. The color wouldn't rub off the embossing so it

sort of "tinted" the powder. I like it!

Throw Back Thursday Mini Mates

I was digging through some old stamp sets and came

across Mini Mates. Lots of fun little images that

also have matching greetings to go with them.

The box is a skinny milk carton made from one sheet of 6x6 designer paper.

I used the new Pretty Petals stack.

Then I just added some lace, silver sequins and the paper clip with

the crystal on top is from Tim Holtz.

Look what happened to my brand new spool of silver sequins!

As I was removing the plastic cover the entire spool came apart.

Going to have to re-wrap the sequins before they get all tangled.

I had good news from the ortho doctor yesterday. He gave me the

go ahead to get the other knee replaced. I signed the consent form and

will be calling today to set up the operation.

I'll get it done after Sarah's wedding in September.
