Blue Bird Christmas Card

With my latest love Julie Nutting dolls...

I forgot all about my beloved Crazy Birds!

So I got them out yesterday and made this card.

I've been working with the Prisma pencils, and trying

to improve my coloring and shading skills.

Now doesn't he look just like the blue bird of happiness!

I picked up a set of erasers just made to use with the

color pencils, so they have improved my shading.

I'm hoping after a few lessons from Emily I'll get

even better!

Its been cold and snowy here. Well you can't

expect anything else from this time of the year.

They are saying that by Thursday the high will be 11 degrees!!!!

Keep warm everyone!

Turkey Crazy Bird?

This tag was made for a Harvest/Thanksgiving tag swap.

Couldn't resist putting feathers on one of Tim Holtz Crazy Birds.

I cut him out of a manilla tag then added the color with an

aqua paint and inks.

Feather thinlit by StampinUp.

The greeting is also from StampinUp call For all Things.

Misc designer paper used for the feathers. I stamped the papers first

with the matching feather stamp and Early Espresso ink. Hubby saw

I was having problem yesterday fussy cutting out the wattle, so he cut

it out for me.

Of course I also added an easel to the back of the tag with the new die I bought.

Today is National Coffee day!

Dunkin' Donuts has been around 66 years and to celebrate they are

selling a medium cup of coffee for .66 cents.

Krispy Kreme is  giving away 12oz coffee with a free glazed donut.

I think I'll be hitting Starbucks today for a tall Latte.

Crazy Bird Vampire

Look what I made yesterday. I'm thrilled how this tag came out.

Uses Tim Holtz Crazy Birds. This little guy is

dressed up as a vampire.

I drew the fangs and drops of blood.

Spooky circle is from Among the Branches stamp set Stampin'Up

And the coolest thing......is the easel stand!

I bought the Tim Hotlz small easel die on Amazon. Perfect

to get tags to stand up, or a one layer card.

Big Congrats to our Cleveland Indians who won the

Central Division yesterday. Go Tribe!!!!!!

Crazy Bird in a Web Card

I can't stop making cards using Tim Holtz Crazy Birds.

They are just so much fun!

I hadn't used this bird stamp before from the set.

Thought he would make a great Halloween card.

The cardstock was embossed using a spider folder.

Cardstock is "Kraft-core" from Tim Holtz.

I got this pack from Catan's for 2 bucks. Score!

I love how the cardstock has this webbing going through it.

I used the black for the web, then sanded off the raised parts of the web to

show the kraft color.

After the sanding was finished I hit some of the spokes of the web

with clear wink of Stella. Hope you can see it in this photo.

Love the card! Now who do I send it to?

Mini Crazy Birds go to Paris for Coffee

Now isn't this just too cute!!!!!

I got a set of mini Crazy Birds at Michael's. By using

a 50% off coupon the set only came to 10.00. It came with

three birds and framlits, and also came with some greetings,

and embossing folder.

The embossing folder used is by Darice. When I saw it

at Pat Catan's I knew right away I wanted to use it with the mini birds.

Here they sit together in Pairs on chairs enjoying a cup of coffee.

Here is what the embossing folder looks like.

Since I don't have mini accessories to go with the mini birds

I used the ones that go with the larger birds. They work just fine.

I think it makes it cuter that the hats at just a tad bit to big.

Up on the House Top.....Santa Got Stuck

Okay how cute is this?

When I was out shopping earlier this week I stopped in

Michael's and used my 50% off coupon to

buy a smaller set of Tim Hotlz Crazy Birds.

I know...I know....I'm addicted to them!

The embossing folder I used is from Darice. This one was

on clearance for 1.00. I knew right away

that I wanted to use one of the mini crazy birds to stand

on Santa's boot.

The greeting came from the song Up on the House Top. I just changed

it to Santa got stuck.

I have some more ideas for the mini crazy birds running like mad through

my head so look for more of them to pop up.

Crazy Bird Get Well Cards

Okay the birds are just so dang ugly that they grow on you.

At least wise they have grown on me. I'm

glad I broke down and finally bought them.

The background was done with a chicken wire embossing folder by Cuttlebug.

After embossing I lightly went over the raised image with Chocolate Chip ink.

Bird was done in Crushed Curry. Hat Basic Gray, bow tie Real Red.

The card on the left has the bird holding a bunch of flowers they were

done with Blushing Bride.

I spent yesterday picking up the house, an moving some stuff

around in the craft room. I emptied out a large drawer that had a ton

of stamping wheels in it. Since I haven't used a wheel in month of Sundays

I took them out and boxed them up. Not sure what I'm going to do with

them at this point. I may just store them for a bit.

Now what do I fill the "found space" with? I'm sure I can fill it

with something.

Bird Crazy 4th of July

These birds are so ugly they are cute!

I stamped the bird on watercolor paper and then colored

with distress crayons and a aqua painter

The hat was die cut with real red, an daffodil delight cardstock.

Designer paper Tim Hotlz. The side design was cut with the

new swirly scribbles thinlits.

And since I was making a 4th of July card....

I went ahead and made ATC's for the month of July swap.

I like how the stars on the paper show in the birds eye.

Flag stamped on watercolor paper, and again the coloring was

done with distress crayons and aqua painter. It was easy to bend

the damp watercolor paper after the cutting was done. I makes

the flag look like it is waving.

Crazy Bird Bookmark

Today I have a crazy bird bookmark to show you, and info on how I colored it.

Love how I had ribbon in my sash to match the flower sequins I used to fill

the shaker. Of course I used my new fuse tool with a page protector to make

the sleeve for the bookmark.

Close up view of the coloring. I also used Gorgeous Grunge stamp set on the background.

I broke out the Prismacolor pencils! I bought this 120 count set years ago, and

did use them some but not as much as I thought I would. After working with them

again I've decided that I'll be using them much more.

Tools for coloring/blending.

You need some blending stumps, sandpaper, baby oil, sharpener, and an ink tray.

There are several different ways to shade using the pencils, but I'm finding the baby oil

works very well, and doesn't cost much. I got this big bottle at the dollar store.

Sandpaper is used to get the color off the stumps when you change colors. Since

I have lots of stumps I think I'm just going to dedicate  them for each color family.

Everything (except the baby oil) was found in the art dept at Pat Catan's,

but you can find these in any craft store with an art dept.

I found a wonderful video on Utube on coloring with Prisma.

You can check it out here

This woman does an awesome job showing just how to color and shade

with the pencils.

A little bird told me Journal

So here we are on the last day of May, and I'm having fun

with the Bird Crazy stamps and accessories.

I stamped the bird on a journal and colored it in with aqua painter and

Crushed Curry ink.

Cut out the eye and popped over face. I love those glasses!!! I cut them

out with glossy black cardstock.

And check out the paper tassel that I made with 6x6 paper pack using

fringe scissors.

Once I made the first tassel I couldn't stop and made a few more.

I'm always looking for ways to use designer paper and the tassels are a

great project. Got to raid my bead, and charm box. The tops of the tassels

are just wrapped with washi tape.

Crazy Bird....You're How Old?

Let me just start by saying that I've had a love/hate feeling for

the Tim Holtz Bird Crazy sets that he released last year.

With that said in a weak moment on Mother's Day I ordered them from

Joanns.com because they were 40% off and if I ordered them before

midnight on Mother's Day I would get free shipping. Well that

just pushed me over the edge! Okay I'm laughing at myself as I'm writing this.

Since when has sale prices ever made up my mind about craft supplies?

It helps of course, but when you got to have it........you know the rest.

My first card.

I used the distress crayons to color the bird.

The panel looks shiny in the post....that is because I used glossy black cardstock.

I added strips of washi tape.

The birds are really cool as the framlits cut around the birds and the bird part

perfectly and without having a border going around them.

Here is a side view. The eyes, beak, and wings were cut with the

matching framlits, then popped over the bird. Since I got the sets I simply

had to have the crazy talk stamp set that went with it all.

And just look at all the little accessories in the left photo that goes

with the birds. I think I'm going to have fun "dressing" my birds. Good thing it

isn't Thanksgiving....get it..."dressing" and Thanksgiving. Okay

Its after midnight and I'm trying to write this post and I think I'm getting slap

happy from lack of sleep. I better go to bed before I order something else!!!!!
