Magazine : Ferrari Greatest Hits - Collector Edition by Classic & Sports car - Ferrari 400 series

Someone mentioned this article on Facebook. It appeared to be published in a special edition that was already out last year in November. So I had to order an expensive back order. It's now available in the download folder archive.

It's a great article by Martin Buckley but I was slightly dissapointed to read about his design referral towards Aldo Brovarone. Clearly it's designed by Sig. Fioravanti. More about this can be read in this blog:

https://erwin400.blogspot.com/2014/12/ferrari-400-design-pininfarina-leonardo.html

Also he made an unnecessary remark towards this BBC book:

https://erwin400.blogspot.com/2017/08/bbc-books-top-gear-crap-cars-18-ferrari.html-ferrari.html

Certainly not a book that should be taken serious at all - so why mention such poor source. I wrote up another small blog about this referral:

Other than that a great article:

Ferrari 412 mit Computer-Fahrwerk - automatic suspension control

This was posted today on FB. It's a small article published in the German Ferrari Club Magazine - edition Nr 246 29 June 1988.

According to this a Ferrari 412 is being tested on the Fiorano track with active suspension control, meaning it automatically controls the hardness/softness of the shock absorbers. This specific feature was supposed to be launched on the 412 in the next year. As 1989 was the last production year this clearly never happened.

Vintage press photo Ferrari 365GT4 2+2

A nice vintage photo for the records. Too bad the quality is not that good. I still haven't worked out in which magazine it got printed. On the back there is calendar displayed. The photo itself is part of the first series press photo's as can be seen in the official brochure.

Autogespot - Summer Vibes!

How cool is this!?

I was informed this is believed to be a Pavesi conversion. It is also believed to be the original brochure car from 1976 (when it was a standard light blue 400A).

Just for the records

The previous owner of this car shared this post on FB:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/8727831092/permalink/10158311510671093/

He wrote the following:

"My old 412, a car I regret selling. Genuine RHD factory red with factory sunroof, first purchased by Lord Bell.
Before I owned it, it was photographed for and appeared in the book Clarkson On Ferrari.

I wasn't aware of that specific book by Mr. Clarkson, just looked it up and it's a bit pricey. Curious to know what has been written about the 400 series.

I looked up the first owner as well, quite a remarkable person:

So adding this blog post just for the records.

Private car collection sold via auction - including three 400s

An older item from 2019 which my radar caught today. Again something I missed completely.
Apparently it's a collection of 144 cars by 1 person which got auctioned. Part of the collection were these three 400s. Sorry the article is in Dutch:

Youtube : An Automatic Ferrari - Automatically a Ferrari?

Finally a quality reportage about the 400. I concur with the end conclusion. I said it before, 2020 is the year of the 400. Enjoy:

Ferrari 400i Cabrio by Jankel

This one got posted in the 400 FB group:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/8727831092/permalink/10158285891741093/

Someone asked by whom the conversion was done. The response was a referral to my blog at a Robert Jankel posting. So apparently this is another Jankel cabrio. Not sure though, I only noticed the typical side mirror. It's more likely a Stommel Con-Moda conversion.
