This 2005 Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG spent time in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before it was purchased by the current owner in 2018, who sold the car in March 2022 and reacquired it in June 2023. Now indicating 39k miles, the car is finished in Obsidian Black Metallic over Alpaca Gray leather. Power is provided by a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, and equipment includes a sunroof, a polished exhaust system, an Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, multi-piston AMG-branded brake calipers, 18″ AMG double-spoke wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, an electric rear window shade, Keyless Go, and heated and ventilated Drive-Dynamic multicontour front seats in addition to COMAND infotainment with navigation. Work since 2019 included replacing the supercharger belt tensioner, drivetrain mounts, spark plugs, radiator hoses, valve cover gaskets, front lower ball joints, and more as listed below. This S55 is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title in the owner’s name.

The S55 AMG featured deeper front and rear valances and sill extensions when compared with the standard W220, and this example is finished in Obsidian Black Metallic. Additional exterior details include a sunroof, front and rear Parktronic parking sensors, door and trunk closing assist, quadruple exhaust outlets, bi-xenon headlights with heated washers, and auto-dimming side-view mirrors with integrated signal lighting. The trunk lid support struts were changed in January 2019, at which time the sunroof rails were lubricated. A replacement trunk lid latch was fitted in April 2020.

Silver-finished 18″ AMG double-spoke wheels are wrapped in 245/45 front and 265/40 rear Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus tires with production date codes from 2024. Braking is from four-wheel anti-lock discs with eight-piston front and four-piston rear AMG-branded calipers. The car rides on an Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, which was fitted with a replacement right-front strut in 2016. A replacement ABC hydraulic fluid filter was fitted in 2019, at which time the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors were changed. The front lower ball joints were replaced in January 2021, and the brake fluid was bled in June 2024. A service invoice from January 2019 indicates that the ABC hydraulic pump is weak.

The seats are trimmed in Alpaca Gray leather, and Burl Walnut wood trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Appointments include heated and ventilated Drive-Dynamic multicontour front seats along with dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, an electric rear window shade, Keyless Go, and COMAND infotainment with navigation. The cabin air filter, cigar lighter assembly, and overhead control panel were replaced in January 2019. Work in 2023 involved adjusting the trunk-closing sensor and replacing the CD changer.

The multifunction steering wheel features gearshift buttons and frames a 200-mph speedometer, an AMG-branded 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 39k miles, approximately 15k of which were added under current ownership.

The supercharged 5.4-liter V8 was factory rated at 493 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, and it drives the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The supercharger oil was changed in 2018, and work in January 2019 included servicing the transmission fluid, installing a trio of replacement engine and transmission mounts, and replacing the spark plugs, radiator hoses, and spark plugs. The supercharger belt tensioner, thermostat element, and valve cover gaskets were replaced in January 2021, while a replacement rear transmission mount was installed in July 2023. The fuel pump and the battery were changed in August 2024.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and New York.
