This is a land she had shaped, not for the better, but with something like a twisted form of love. The nation is misshapen, injured, but the people are happy. They pray to her, and decorate the streets with effigies in her likeness.
He cannot understand them. His mother is not a person who deserves to be forgiven. She has hurt too many people with her divine hands for her to be worthy of worship. In this way, if in no others, they are similar.
