The birds never stop singing. The wood around her is just as it was, the leaves rustling in the wind, the water of the stream trickling its way south, and the heat of the sun against her face. And the birds never stop singing. That would have been her first sign that something was amiss, if there had been a hush in the air. The second should have been the slow shadow that creeped up the treeline to the ground before her feet. The third, the third should have been the fingers against her collarbone.
Galadriel jerks at the touch, jumping away from the tree she has made her seat, her instincts finally kicking in but he is quicker. Sauron has her body against his, her arms pinned behind her, her back to his front. She tries to fight her way out of his hold, kick and twist, but he’s stronger. Much stronger than her with her chest still throbbing where that cursed crown had stabbed her.

If Buck could go back to all those weeks ago and tell himself that this idea would place at the top of the list of his monumentally stupid ideas, he would do it in a heartbeat. He would knock some sense into his own head, or let Maddie do it for him.
But here he is now, and a time machine, unfortunately, hasn’t been invented yet.
Here he is now, with Eddie boring into his eyes after that. After realizing he’s been caught red-handed. Except, the implication Eddie’s just made means he’s been sitting on this. And, holy hell.
Eddie breathes out, his chest puffing out noticeably.
“Not so quick to answer when the tables are turned, are you?”

“I don’t know why you’re even here!” Eddie yells, voice just as loud, ringing—echoing in the nothingness of the once-home. “Just go back, okay?!” he adds, volume staying the same, stability rapidly decreasing, his eyes welling up in the moonlight pouring in through the window. “Alright? To her, or him, or both—and I’ll call you from the road, and I’ll say goodbye, and I’ll be back in El Paso, and…” If Eddie has more to say, it’s swallowed by the rapid way in which he’s breathing as he sinks back against the kitchen counter, the anger melting off of Buck’s shoulders as he carefully starts to approach him.

If you step out on that field one more time we are going to end up with a costly fifteen-yard penalty or your ass is going to be thrown out of this game. So, take a deep breath for me and calm the fuck down.” Buck practically growls in his ear, his voice deep and commanding.
After his third or fourth deep breath, he’s feeling lighter, freer even. He feels Buck smirk against his ear before he whispers, “Good boy,” right in Eddie’s ear and slips his headset back on his head. Buck steps back, letting his touch linger on his waist for just a moment as he releases his hold on Eddie, but his words are ringing in his ears.
Good boy. Good boy. Good boy.

When Head Coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, Eddie Diaz, gets heated on the sidelines, his ‘get back’ coach, Assistant Coach Evan Buckley is in charge of holding him back from the field of play. After an incredibly frustrating night where Eddie is seconds away from storming the field after a referee, Buck restrains Eddie with a little extra force than the head coach is used to, and oh… oh, does Eddie like that.
