The scowling hedgehog dusted himself off, staring at the five different Eggmans and, surprisingly, scowled harder.
“Shadow!”
*Ah. An unfortunately and annoyingly familiar voice.*
Shadow ignored the little leap his heart did when the voice reached his ears, as well as the spike of relief that spread through his body, and turned to glance at his blue counterpart through the window of the weird cage? Exercise room? he was in.
“Sonic,” he growled. If it was a little less angry than usual, that was nobody’s business.

Summary
Tails, Nine, and Mangey have been thrown into a mysterious deathmatch-like gameshow against their will. After being pushed to their limits physically and mentally, the trio finally accumulates enough points to earn their freedom. But this proves to be yet another ruse and their captivity merely takes a new form, more oppressive and invasive than ever. After having the rug continuously pulled out from under them, hope is at an all-time low.
The sudden appearance of Metal Sonic only adds further confusion. Is the robot simply another facilitator of their imprisonment, or could he be an unlikely ally? Who can they trust? Is escape even possible? Or will they give in to despair and accept their fate as a cog in the machine of an uncaring society, doomed to eternal exploitation?
(This is the finale to a three-part story, but it’s written with the intent that you can start reading at any arc. So feel free to jump in here.)

Shadow awoke to a flicky perched on his face. He gently placed them on the ground before surveying his environment.
The dark hedgehog found himself in a massive jungle. The sunlight barely filtered through the canopy, casting most of the forest in darkness. Shadow’s eyes then drifted on a familiar landmark, the loop-de-loop. Before he could ponder further, his enhanced hearing picked up on a voice coming towards him. Not wanting to take any chances Shadow skated and crouched behind a bush.
“Remember not to make a sound. The monster could be anywhere.”
Rouge? No, that's not her. She would never wear dark green eyeshadow.

Sonic se réveille avec l’impression d’avoir été piétiné par une horde d’éléphants dans un endroit qui lui est en grande partie totalement inconnu. Un endroit qui, qui plus est, est totalement dévasté et même en ruine. Il lui trouve des airs d’une ville qu’il a déjà visité avec ses amis à l’occasion d’une participation à un festival de musique avec les Dude-itude, Central City, mais autrement, ne connaît ou ne reconnaît rien du tout de ce lieu. Aussi, il ne sait absolument pas comment il s’est retrouvé ici, ni pourquoi il se trouve là. Pire encore, il apprend qu’il a littéralement atterri en plein dans une guerre et dans un champ plein de bombes et de mines potentiellement cachés ! S’en sortira-t-il vivant ? Arrivera-t-il à retourner chez lui sain et sauf ? Rien n’est moins sûr, mais une certaine rencontre des plus insolites pourraient bien l’y aider en tout cas …
