Summary
Hello! The world is burning down around me so I'm going to write the Star Wars story I hope we get someday. This is the story I want for Rey, I want for Ben, I want for Finn, Rose, Poe...and some other characters you might recognize.
Inspiration for this story comes from The Last Jedi, Star Wars - Ronin by Emma Mieko Candon, many What the Force? podcast discussions between Marie-Claire Gould and her many wonderful guests, Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock, Star Wars - A Crash of Fate by Zoraida Córdova, The Acolyte series, and the Ahsoka series.
This story is ongoing and new chapters will be added as quickly as I can write them.
This is my first Star Wars story. Open to critique and feedback but please be kind. I just need to write at the moment, and I can't dig anything out of my soul for own WIP. Once I started writing this, the keys just kept clicking and I felt some joy for a few hours...so I just kept going. Decided to share it with the world and hope it brings other folks some joy.
This begins moments after the end of The Rise of Skywalker.

When Rey gets called to be on a new reality tv show, she's thrilled; the half-a-million dollar prize money will allow her to get her own place and pursue her degree. All she has to do is survive in the remote Alaskan wilderness longer than the other contestants on the show.
Aside from Kylo Ren—her closest neighbor and toughest competitor—it seems like it's going to be pretty easy.
However, when no adults come to check on her and her radio goes silent, Rey realizes that the game is over. Now, survival is no longer optional. If you lose, you die.

UPDATE DEC. 24, 2024 -- I got to thinking about this story from a year ago. In particular about the characters and where they would be today. I was inspired to write a couple of new chapters to satisfy my own curiosity. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed revisiting the tale.
