For as long as she can remember, Hyacinth Potter has had Maeglin as her brother, ghost or not, blood or not.
Ever since his death, Maeglin has never truly recognized the world turning around him. He was aware or if—distantly—but never gave it any true thought. He felt when Morgoth fell and then Sauron his lieutenant. He felt when his fëa healed from the combined corruptions and soul-illnesses set upon him by both Morgoth and Melian his grandmother. Still, Maeglin kept his soul bound to the land of Arda, knowing that he would not be welcomed in Valinor and content to fade away into the very nothingness of the world. That changed when he, for the first time in over five Ages of the world, dreamed. He dreamed of Gondolin at its height, of Gondolin when it loved him, and he loved it in turn.
