Merida was not going to be married off, that's why she shot those arrows. No, Merida was not going to be married to someone she doesn’t even know. Merida didn’t want marriage, with anyone for a fact. So she did what any sensible lad would do in her situation. Run away with her horse, Angus. Merida did not take anything with her, she could survive well on her own. No, she was independent, she didn’t need anyone.
While cooking the fish she caught in a river, she heard rustling in the bushes. Merida would play this off as an animal, if it wasn’t for the voices. She quickly stood up and nocked her bow with an arrow. “Step out.” She demanded. Luckily they obliged. Not so lucky, they were her suitors. Young McGuffin, Wee DingWall and Young Macintosh.

Summary

As the next few days go by, Elinor and Merida continue to fight over wedding traditions, which leads Merida to make a big mistake.
