Chapter Text
*Merida was playing with her bow and arrow until she heard noises. She ignores it at first, thinking it was an animal bit the noises were constant*
"Aye! Who goes there?" Merida peers into the woods, slowly drawing her bow. Her flaming curls blow softly in the wind as she sits atop Angus, her hefty draft horse. "Oi, i *said* who goes there?"
??: Shit....
The arrow Merida pulls back, nearly reaching its apex, points directly at you. "Answer me, sir.. and be quick about it!" She says, her face a fierce scowl.
Actually, it's ma'am! *The person comes out with her sword in hand she is a person in a kimono and bears a cloak to cover her.*
Merida looks you up and down, the arrow still tautly drawn back. "A sword? Hm, interesting choice against the bow. And you say you're a lady?"
Yeah....names suki Kai this is my sister mai *she gestures towards her sister who bore a fan covering her face and wears a pink kimono*
Merida lets out a whistle. "And what brings you two into these woods? Most folk tend to avoid this place." She says, lowering the bow slightly but keeping her guard up. Merida can sense the difference in energy, one sister giving off an air of confidence while the other does not..
Mai: we are survivors of a genocidal war. We are thieves coming from Japan. Parents murdered and life is full of crime!
Merida's eyes narrow at this information. "Interesting. Survivors, hm? Well, this is my land and I'm not one to take kindly towards thieves. What's to say you won't be stealing all my money or the very clothes off my back?" She says, glaring pointedly down at the two women.
Suki: easy, beautiful~ we don't have intentions to steal. I believe their was a princess who was lookin for a sutor?
Merida's eyes widen, and she blinks slowly. "And you think *I* am looking for a husband?" She laughs, and lowers the drawn bowstring. "I'm not sure who has informed you of that, but it is false. Perhaps I should explain. My mother tries to force men upon me in hopes that I'll marry and create an heir. I'm looking to stay as far away from that as I can."
Suki: Heh your lucky to even have parents
Merida scowls. "Lucky, hm? I'd call it more of a curse. My mother is very controlling and doesn't like me to have any fun. I can't even run off from all of this." She sighs, looking away. "But you two, you have no parents?"
Suki: Nope. Killed.
Merida is quiet for a moment as she observes the two women. She bites her lip for a moment, before letting go of the bowstring. "I am sorry for your loss. It is a shame you two had to go through that." She says in a genuine tone. Despite her earlier accusations, Merida seems to have softened towards the girls.
Suki: Eh. We've heard that all the time
"Still, it is a shame that you both had to learn how cruel the world can be. Especially so young." Merida says, and looks off into the distance.
Suki: Yeah....
Merida looks back to the pair. "Do you two have a place to sleep tonight? A home, friends, loved ones? Maybe you're just going to find a nearby hotel and rest your heads after all that walking? Or are you planning on sleeping here... in the forest?" She finishes the sentence, eyeing each of the girls suspiciously.
Mai: As a theif we don't make alliances with other people but. your the expectation
Merida laughs, shaking her head. "Really, now? Well, as a princess and a lady, it would not be proper for me to simply *send you on your way* now would it? Hmm," Merida pauses, trying to consider the situation. "Do you two promise you won't steal anything from me? Not even a simple trinket or bauble?"
Suki: Nope.
Mai: if my sister does do something I'll kill her and smear the blood onto my face
Merida's eyes shift to Mai for a moment. "Well that's.. interesting." She says, slightly surprised at the girl's words. But she seems to believe her.
"Alright then, I trust you. You may stay the night." Merida gestures behind her towards the castle in the distance. "If you do not mind, however, would it be alright to ask you both a few questions?"
Suki: sure
"Hm," Merida begins and thinks for a moment before continuing. "You are both thieves, yes? From Japan, I'm assuming? How is it that an entire war and its aftermath resulted in you two winding up in the woods next to my kingdom's castle? That's quite a journey, if I do say so myself."
Suki: Well we thiefs travel and move but we traveled here after hearing the news of a sutor can't miss out on some good ol'e drama!
Merida laughs. "Oh, so you've heard that I'm being forced to marry a suitor? Hm, word spreads far, doesn't it?" She asks, raising an eyebrow.
Suki: apparently
Merida sighs. "And you heard you could get a free show out of it, so you both came running?" She smirks.
Suki: when you put it like that it makes us look like fans
Merida snickers. "I suppose that is true. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a princess be forced into a marriage against her will?" She says, and it seems she is only mildly joking. "So will the two of you be staying to watch the drama?"
Suki: Maybe...maybe I could be your suitor~
Merida's eyes widen, and her heart skips a beat. Her cheeks glow bright red on their own accord and a blush spreads rapidly across her cheeks. "Uh.. y-you could?"
Suki: Of course I ain't like those men.
Merida smiles, and stares into the girls eyes for a moment. "I would.. appreciate that. I've never really had the opportunity to choose a suitor for myself." She says in a hushed tone. "And, it is true... you are not like the rest of them.."
Suki: Heh....so you like me~
Merida's mouth opens and closes several times as she attempts to find the right words. Her heart races and her cheeks are still red from her blush. ".. I.. suppose I do.. just- just a little." She finishes, looking at you with anticipation.
Suki: Heh your cute.
Merida sighs and looks away from you. She's clearly embarrassed now from you calling her cute. Even though she finds the flattery endearing and exciting, she does not like being put on the spot.
"R-really?" She asks, peering up at you through the top of her eyelashes.
Suki: of course!
Merida laughs at your boldness. She's never seen a girl like you before, and it makes her quite intrigued. She's tempted to reach out and touch your cheek, to see how you would react to such a gesture.
Mai: *under her breath* gross.
