Butterflies and Distress Inks in Purple and Blue

Hello and welcome!

It's time already for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. We have another wonderful theme this week, with Wendy being our host, and she wants to see "Butterflies or Bugs", so hope you will join in this week for a chance to win a prize from Craft Stash, in fact we have two prizes this week, a beautiful  Woodware stamp set and a Tattered Lace die. And remember you may always join in up to 3 times for more chances to win!

My starting point for the card was once again the current sketch from MFT. While I'm not so much following sketch challenges any longer, MFT sketches do usually appeal to me and I've been following them once again  in the recent weeks and I try to use them as an inspiration.

I made my inky background using Distress inks Wilted Violet and Blueprint Sketch following Loll's Splash Watercolor background technique.

The focal butterfly is part of the Penny Black stamp Gathering Together, you can see the rest of this beautiful stamp stamped on the large circle die cut using Spun Sugar Distress ink. I inked the butterfly with the same distress inks and then fussy cut using Cutterbee scissors which I'd say are a "must have" for any type of fussy cutting. Following the MFT sketch I cut out another (smaller) circle, inked the edges and adhered it onto the larger circle. My circle dies are an old die set by Nestablities.

The script stamped in black (using Versafine Onyx ink) I used on the top left and bottom right is an oldie from Whimsy Stamps, and the "Thinking of You" is from My Favorite Things, unfortunately also retired, but this stamp set is similar in style.

A close up below....

It's hard to see, but I used my Wink of Stella clear glitter brush on the butterflies, and I really do need to purchase a new one as it's running out of glitter!

Before adhering the card front to the base, I ran the Blueprint Sketch ink pad along the edges.

Butterflies, a Stencil and a Vintage Key

Hello and welcome!

I hope you had a nice Easter weekend. We had plenty of sunshine here and I enjoyed the beautiful weather, it was perfect timing for a little blogging break over the holiday weekend!

But we are back again at Allsorts challenge this week with a new theme set by Tracy who wants to see... Butterflies, birds and/or bugs. Hope to see you joining in for a chance to win! We have a new sponsor this time, Helping Hands Craft , who are giving away a  £15 Voucher to one lucky randomly selected winner!

My card was inspired by this week's MFT sketch

To make my card, I started out by stamping and heat embossing the beautiful Penny Black stamp Gathering Together (an older wood mounted stamp) using Pumice Stone Distress Oxide ink (a great neutral ink color) and clear embossing powder. Then I used a circle die to cut this out.

Next I stamped all the butterflies (the large one is part of the stamp Gathering Together, the small ones are from the retired Stampin Up set Kindess Matters), using Memento Tuxedo ink and I colored using Copic markers. Cutterbee scissors were used to fussy cut all butterflies and I placed them on small die cut circles for some added interest. The main image circle was inked along the edge using Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress inks.

I used a Tim Holtz stencil from this stamp kit to add a stencil design to the card base with Tumbled Glass ink and then inked the edges here using Broken China ink.

The sentiment from the Penny Black set Snippets was stamped directly onto the card base using Versafine Onyx ink. Foam tape was used to adhere the image circle onto the card base and I finished it off by adding a few black sequins to the circle. These sequins were part of the February 2019 Hero Arts stamp kit.

You can see a closeup above.

Thanks so much for stopping by and hope to see you over at the challenge blog!

Antique Key and Butterflies for Penny Black and More Challenge

Good morning! It's the 18th of the month and that means it's time for our reminder post at Penny Black and More challenge where our theme this month is all about "Favorite Stamps". There is still plenty of time to join us if you haven't already, and don't forget you may enter up to 3 times.

Please note, this post does include some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, as always this is at no cost to you. Thanks so much for supporting my blog.

I have so many favorite Penny Black stamps, most of them are, but somehow this collage type stamp  - Gathering Together - does pop into my mind often when it's about using favorite things. I just love how all of the elements are arranged on this single stamp (minus the sentiment).

I stamped and heat embossed the image onto Bristol Vellum paper using my usual  Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and clear embossing powder. Distress inks and a Zig Detailer brush were used to color the image. I used Peacock Feathers and Tea Dye distress inks. I flicked some Peacock Feathers ink onto the background for some splatter.

The harlequin pattern paper was included in a package of pattern papers I found at a thrift store several months ago. I really would be the last person to need any more pattern papers, but there were some great basic prints in this package and I couldn't resist :-)

The small sentiment is part of the set Butterfly Garden, also by Penny Black. It's also been heat embossed then stapled to the card and I tied some natural jute twine onto the staple to tie a bow. It's hard to see, but glitter was applied to the butterflies using a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - August Challenge

Hello and welcome! It's a new month and that means time for a new theme for my Crafty Wednesday challenge. It looks like many of you enjoyed my June and July themes which I ran for both months to make it easier while I was on vacation. Be sure to scroll down to see if you were one of the two winners or a top pick.

As always, to share your creation simply scroll down, and remember to follow one of the challenge themes.

This month's themes:

Sunshine, Sunflowers or Add Something Yellow

I've used a lot of yellow on my card, you don't have to do that, as long as the yellow you added is visible somewhere without having to enlarge the card :)

The butterfly I used is from the Penny Black set Butterfly Garden and I paired it with a sentiment from the Penny Black sentiment set Snippets, both stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.

Related Products:

I started out by adding a moon (or sun) mask then inked the background with Mustard Seed, Wild Honey  and a little bit of Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink along the edges before distressing. The circles were done with the Circle Explosion stencil the TCW, again with Mustard Seed Distress ink. I stamped and heat embossed the butterfly a second time on a separate paper scrap then colored with distress ink and a waterbrush.
