Lauren Heath
_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Design Studio People was an excellent bridge into the design industry post graduation. It
provided me with an overview of the inner workings of numerous agencies including print,
digital, integrated and in-house. Given my degree I was naturally drawn towards the
complexity and team work involved in digital design and made my first step into the industry
with Tonic. My role as Traffic Manager meant acting as a central cog within the agency,
working closely with everyone across the creative spectrum assisting project process from
pitch through to Go Live. Drawing upon my strengths in production process and the skills I
have learned in project management I am now looking to step into a progressive digital
Producer / Project Manager role.

Employment History Industry specific

experience, visual identity, interactive and web design and build, software and product UI and
digital marketing. Clients included Sony, Kingston University, Telenor Group, Which?, UBS,
PWC, Ellesse and JC Decaux. My role within the agency involved:

shifting external deadlines, reporting any problems affecting job quality, deadlines or

had the opportunity to control the quality of the agency product.
• Worked with the Production Director, Creative Director and Producers in the selection
of third party resource and managed freelance relationships.

relationships, negotiated rates, agreed specifications and service level agreements.
• Managed In-house recruitment.
• Established and developed industry links.
• Managed job folders, POS and cost estimates.

• Worked with the Producers to provide executive level support on smaller jobs.
• Worked into the Production Director on internal team utilisation reporting and project
profitability.

Design Studio People

Executive Consultant
April 2005 – May 2007

I recruited for the design, advertising and media industry. This also included in-house design
studios within blue chip businesses, charities and the public sector. My candidate base, from
Juniors up to Creative Directors, consisted of all those involved in the creative and production
process developing anything from packaging, branding, direct mail, sales promotion,
advertising (online and offline), corporate identity, corporate literature, websites, interactive
presentations and motion graphics. It was a client facing role and one which required me to
have a full understanding of my candidate’s abilities and talents in relation to my clients
needs. Producing results of the highest standard for clients and candidates was of the utmost
importance. It was a diverse role that demanded time management, a skill for multi tasking
and an innovative approach. I managed freelance teams, was a consultant for clients and
candidates looking to fill permanent roles, advertised online and in monthly design
publications such as Creative Review / Design Week and was instrumental in sales
campaigns and business strategies for DSP.

Interests Achievements
I have an eclectic scope of interests or better said I’m in to most things. Life’s too short not to
be. Travelling around the world has given me the opportunity to put my interest in
photography to the test and I’ve come back with some corkers! I’ve always got a book on the
go and read a wide ranging variety; it’s a great insight into the reality of others. I love music
but unfortunately have no talent for playing an instrument or song writing. Art and design has
always been a key interest of mine from painting and drawing in my spare time to having a
deep appreciation for the work of others. I have an excellent eye for what constitutes good
design and only wish I had more of a talent for creating it, although as a good organiser and
project manager I do have a skill for producing it. Anthropology, geology (or perhaps just a
fascination with interesting stones), cultural studies, natural science and animal behavioural
studies, astronomy (to be honest I mean star gazing here), religious philosophy, travel and
visiting world heritage sites brings my interests to a nice conclusion.

Spending six months in Spanish speaking countries meant I could take my seriously limited
Spanish and develop it to the point where I can hold, albeit short and sweet, conversations. I
am determined to be fluent one day. Learning to dive and qualifying as a PADI Advanced
Open Water Diver was an achievement I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. It was like
discovering another world whilst simultaneously learning all about the science involved in
diving. The feeling of being able to fly like a superhero was of course a bonus. During my
travels I also trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru, climbed the active volcano,
Pacaya, in Guatemala and did the highest and mother of all bungy jumps, Nevis High Wire
(134m), in New Zealand. More recently I did the highest canyon swing in the world, located
near the Tibetan boarder in Nepal, which had me ashamedly screaming like a child. During
my trip around South Asia I also studied meditation and Tibetan philosophy and taught
English to Tibetan exiles in Mcleodganj, Dharamshala.
