OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson the students should be able to: 1. Define table setting. 2. State the guidelines in table setting. 3. Enumerate the common types of dining room layout. 4. Arrange the table appointments on their proper places. 5. Value the importance of table setting. SUBJECT MATTER Topic: Table Setting Sub-topic: Common types of dining room layout Instructional Material: Table, different eating utensils, cartolina and colored paper. Reference: Technology and Livelihood Education IV (by Ana Ruth Grutas pp.74-75)

2. Analysis So based on the activities that we had, What do you think our lesson for today?

Maam its all about table setting.

Very good, you got it. Our lesson for today Is about table setting. So when you hear the word table setting, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Its about the proper arrangement of eating utensils in the table.

Yes, very well said. Table setting refers to the manner in which the the table appointments and food are arranged on the table or any surface for the dining. How a table will be set depends on the style of service, the number of people who will dine and the type of table appointments to be used. In setting up a table there are guidelines that must be followed. Who wants to read the first one? Table appointments must be placed one inch away from the edge of the table.

It is placed one inch away from the table for the diners to become comfortable while eating. Read the second one? It helps to have a good balance in the arrangement of the table appointments. Read the next one?

The spoon is placed next to the with a bowl facing up. The fork is placed at the left side of the cover. The napkin is placed next to the fork. The glass is placed just above the point of the knife.

After those guidelines, lets now move on to the dining room layout. Dining room layout is one of the most satisfying experiences of customers to see dining room beautifully arranged in a simple or elegant manner and with proper consideration to the customers convenience. Choosing the table and chairs depends on the size of the room as well as the arrangement depends on what occasion is having and the number of guest who will occupy the hall. There are four dining room layout. First is the conference or classroom set-up, second is cocktail party set-up, third is wedding reception set-up and the last is the buffet set-up. Under the classroom set-up we have classroom set-up for 3 persons, conference set-up for 7 persons, U-shaped set-up hallowed rectangular set-up for discussion type conference.

3. Abstraction Why do you think it is important to know what is table setting all about?

Maam because it give us knowledge on how to arrange the table appointments. It help us when we are having guest in our house, we know how to set our table to become comfortable for the guest.
