BOBBLE SHEEP

ABBREVIATIONS

1. Sc – single crochet
2. Inc – increase (2sc in same stitch)
3. Dec – decrease
4. Ch – chain
5. Rnd - Round
6. Magic ring – If you struggle to do a
magic ring an alternative is to chain 2
then single crochet for 6 stitches into the
first chain and mark the first stitch with
a marker and then continue to work in
the round.
Head

1. Use a 4mm hook size and a yarn of


your choice, a soft & silky 100g yarn in
Slate works well.

Round 1: 6sc into magic ring


Round 2: 6sc inc (12)
Round 3: (1sc, 1inc) x 6 (18 stitches)
Round 4: (2sc, 1inc) x6 (24)
Round 5: (3sc, 1inc) x 6 (30)
Round 6: (4sc, 1inc) x 6 (36)
Rounds 7 to 12: 36sc around (36)
Round 13: (4sc, 1dec) x 6 (30)
Rounds 14 to 15: 30sc around (30)
Round 16: (3sc, 1dec) x 6 (24)

2. Change hook size to 3.5mm and change


yarn to whatever colour of chunky 100g
yarn you wish to use, chenille wool
works well.

Rounds 17 to 19: 24sc around (24)


Round 20: (2sc, 1dec) x 6 (18)
Round 21: (1sc, 1dec) x 6 (12)
Round 22: 6dc (6)

Ears

Using the grey yarn.

Round 1: 6sc into magic ring


Round 2: 6sc inc (12)
Rounds 3 to 9: 12 sc around (12)

Fold ear in half and sc through both sides and fasten off, leaving
long end to sew ears to the head.

Body

Change yarn to a chunky 100g yarn of your choice.

Round 1: 6sc in magic ring


Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (1sc, 1inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: (2sc, 1inc) x 6 (24)
Round 5: (3sc, 1inc) x 6 (30)
Round 6: (4sc, 1inc) x 6 (36)
Rounds 7 to 10: sc around (36)
Round 11: (4sc, 1dec) x 6 (30)
Round 12: sc around (30)
Round 13: (3sc, 1dec) x 6 (24)
Round 14: sc around (24)
Round 15: (2sc, 1dec) x 6 (18)
Round 16: sc around (18)
Round 17: (1sc, 1dec) x 6 (12)
Round 18: 6dec (6)

Stuff using proper toy filling (polyester fibre or similar). Please note
Operation Christmas Child are not able to send items stuffed other
materials e.g. dried beans or newspaper. Fasten off, and leave long end
to sew head to body.

Legs
Change back to your grey yarn

Round 1: 6sc in magic ring


Round 2: 6inc (12)
Round 3: (1sc, 1inc) x 6 (18)
Rounds 4 to 6: sc around (18)
Round 7: (1dec, 7sc) x 2 (16)
Round 8: (1dec, 6sc) x 2 (14)
Round 9: (1dec, 5sc) x 2 (12)
Round 10: (1dec, 4sc) x 2 (10)
Round 11: (1dec, 3sc) x 2 (8)
Rounds 12 to 27: sc around (8)

Lightly stuff the leg and then press


together the sides and sc through both
sides, fasten off leaving long yarn to sew

Arms

Still using grey yarn

Round 1: 6sc in magic ring


Round 2: 6inc (12)
Rounds 3 to 6: sc around (12)
Round 7: (1dec, 4sc) x 2 (10)
Round 8: (1dec, 3sc) x 3 (8)
Rounds 9 to 22: sc around (8)

Lightly stuff the arm just half way up, then press together the sides and sc
through both sides and fasten off leaving long yarn to sew arms to the body.

Tail

Round 1: 6sc in magic ring


Round 2: 6inc (12)
Round 3: 6dec (60)

Finish off and lightly stuff. Leave long yarn to sew to the sheep’s bottom.

Face

Using black yarn or embroidery thread, take a needle and stitch in the nose,
mouth, and eye lines (if you prefer, use small black safety eyes). You may
also like to tie a ribbon around the neck to finish the look.
