Greetings at peace!
The English Club will be celebrating the annual ComArts Festival to commence on
September 29, 2022. As our participation in the said prestigious event, the English club has
prepared several activities for the students to participate in.
The theme set by the club for this year’s celebration is “Embracing Artistic Expression
through Effective Communication in the Modern Times”. To make this celebration joyous and
remarkable, the following events will be held at the Robert Black Amphitheater.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR COM ARTS FESTIVAL

1. All students of Brokenshire College, Inc. are encouraged to join. The registration form will be
given before the event proper and the attendance form will be given during the event.

2. Attendance will be given to their respective advisers.

3. All participants in each event must be a bona fide student of Brokenshire College, Inc. For the
inter-school debate competition, the partner school must also ensure that the participants are
bona fide student on their respective school. The facilitator of San Pedro College- SHS
Department will give names beforehand for us to identify the participants on the said event.

4. All sections must have two class representatives with their advisers. The meeting of the
upcoming event will happen as soon as the proposal is approved.

5. A final copy of the mechanics, guidelines, and other materials will also be given to the class
representatives and adviser per section via Messenger to ensure clarity.

6. All students should wear a color-coded casual attire to easily identify the team. At the same
time, everyone shall follow the safety protocols during the event proper.

7. All students are required to attend and participate in each event.

8. An evaluation form will be sent after the day of the event.

9. For ComArts Pop Song and Infographics, the PARTICIPANTS are responsible to send all
outputs on Google Classroom, especially the recorded videos, photos, and etc.

10. The judges should also send the scores to the tabulation committee.

POETRY WRITING (JHS AND SHS)
General Guidelines:
1. Participants must be a bona fide JHS and SHS students of Brokenshire College Inc.
2. Students will only be allowed to participate if they have completed the Registration form.
3. Each team must submit one (1) name of their participant to the assigned facilitator on
this event on or before September 16, 2022. Failure to submit by then will be grounds
for disqualification.
4. Poetry writing contest is done “on the spot”. Therefore, the participants should be
responsible to it.

Event Mechanics:
1. The participant must be a bona fide JHS and SHS student of Brokenshire College.
2. All entries must be written in English language.
3. All entries must have at least 5 stanzas and must not exceed to 10 stanzas; This type of
poetry is freestyle so that you can maximize your creativity in poetry writing.
4. All poetry writing must be original and previously unpublished.
5. It must be related to the theme “Embracing Artistic Expression through Effective
Communication in the Modern Times”
6. All entries must be written in 1 whole long bond paper to be provided by the facilitator.
Pencil and black pen should be provided by the participants.
7. The facilitator will be giving a time limit to the participants. They will be given an hour
(60 minutes) to finish their work.
8. All entries shall be submitted before the event ends.
9. All participants must observe these formats: non-cursive, input number of stanzas, and
vertical in form. Its sample will be shown before the event commences.
11. A plagiarism checker will be used for the originality of your content.
12. Upon submission of the results to the committee, judges’ decision shall be considered
final and irrevocable.

PRONUNCIATION CHALLENGE (JHS)
General Guidelines:
1. Participants must be a bona fide JHS students of Brokenshire College Inc.
2. Students will only be allowed to participate if they have completed the registration form.
3. Each team must submit EIGHT (8) names of their participant on or before September
16, 2022. Failure to submit by then will be grounds for disqualification.
4. The event has 3 categories: EASY, MODERATE, and, HARD.

Event Mechanics:
1. The participant must be a bona fide JHS student of Brokenshire College.
2. Each team must have 8 participants.
3. The event has 3 categories: EASY, MODERATE, and, HARD. Coverage for this
pronunciation challenge is based on the vocabulary from American-English, German-
English, French-English, and Anglo-Saxon, etc. The word must be articulated
accurately and audibly.
4. The word to be pronounced is based on the standard given from each word vocabulary.
For EASY CATEGORY- there will be 10 words to pronounce. Each word consists of
2 points; 10 participants with the highest scores will move on to the MODERATE
CATEGORY.
For MODERATE CATEGORY- There will be 8 words to pronounce. Each word
consists of 4 points. 5 participants with the highest scores will move on to the last
category.
For the HARD CATEGORY- There will be 8 words to pronounce; 3 participants with
the highest scores will declare as winners
5. There are 3 rooms for the participants: 1st Room: All participants will gather in one
place. They will be called through draw lots of who will be called first, next, and last.
2nd Room: 1 student will only enter for the pronunciation challenge. Once they are done,
they will proceed to the 3rd Room to wait for the next category. The facilitator will be
called the students who will proceed to the next category. For students who are not
called, they may leave and go back to their respective classrooms.
6. The event will choose the 3 winners: 2nd Runner Up, 1st Runner Up, and Champion.

SLOGAN MAKING (JHS)

General Guidelines:
1. Participants shall be a bona fide student of Brokenshire College Inc.
2. Entries will be approved once the participant has completed the registration form.
3. To participate in this event, each team shall have 2-3 students.
4. The slogan shall be submitted on the day of the event.
Event Mechanics:
1. The participant must be a bona fide student of Brokenshire Science High School.
2. The participant shall prepare a ¼ illustration board and any coloring materials.
3. Each team shall create a slogan based from the theme “Embracing Artistic Expression
through Effective Communication in the Modern Times”.
4. The information must be written in English.
5. Upon submission of the results to the committee, judges’ decision shall be considered
final and irrevocable.
6. This event will choose four (4) winners: 3rd Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up, 1st Runner Up,
and Champion.

form. Each team must have 2-3 participants in this event.
3. The infographic should be in PDF format, 8.5x 13. 600-1100 pixels wide.
4. Participants should submit their outputs on or before September 28, 2022.
5. All infographic submissions will be processed and reviewed by the assigned committee.

Event Mechanics:
1.The participant must be a bona fide SHS student of Brokenshire College.
2.The information presented must be written in English language.
3. Infographics should highlight a topic that is in line with the theme “Embracing Artistic
Expression through Effective Communication in the Modern Times”
4. Send the output to the Google Classroom- Class code: (to be followed) on or before
September 28, 2022, Monday at 7:00 pm. The file name format should be
(TEAMNAME_EVENT_FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME) e.g TEAMNICOLE_

General Guidelines:
1. Participants must be a bona fide student of Brokenshire College, Inc. Basic Education
department.
2. Each team shall register first before participating in this event. They will work this event
as a team.
3. The banner size shall have the measurement of 1x1 (1 meter length and width).
4. The banner should be submitted on or before September 27, 2022.
Event Mechanics:
1. Every team shall create a banner using pongee cloth and bamboo sticks as its stand.
2. The banner shall be based on the identity of their represented team name. It will be used
during the event.
3. Each team must also come up with cheers and yells of their represented team, together
with the banner during the mini-parade to happen on September 29, 2022 at 1:00 PM.
4. Upon submission of the results to the committee, judges’ decision shall be considered
final and irrevocable.
5. This event will choose four (4) winners: 3rd Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up, 1st Runner Up,
and Champion.

ASIAN PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE (SHS)


Event Mechanics:
1. Participants must be bona fide students of Brokenshire College, Inc. Senior High School.
Students will only be allowed to participate if they have completed the Registration
Form.
2. Each section must assign three (3) representatives and one (1) reserve just in case one of
the representatives will face some unexpected problems.
3. The assigned representatives per section will be encouraged to attend the online Debate
Orientation on September 12, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM before engaging to an actual
debate event. This is for the participants to be familiar with the nature, format, and rules
and regulations of Asian Parliamentary Debate.

5. Before the elimination rounds to commence, all sections per year level will be choosing
their team number through draw lots, spearheaded by the class advisers.
6. Participants are encouraged to wear formal attire for presentability.
7. On the actual debate competition, all participants are required to attend to the designated
venue.
9. This event follows the Asian Parliamentary format. To be exact, all members of the
government and opposition team will be given seven (7) minutes to deliver their
respective constructive speeches and four (4) minutes to deliver a reply speech. POIs
may be raised by the opposing side within six (6) minutes. No POIs shall be raised
during reply speeches.
As for the speaking order, here are as follows:
Prime Minister (PM) > Leader of the Opposition (LO) > Deputy Prime Minister
(DPM) > Deputy Leader of the Opposition (DLO) > Government Whip (GW) >
Opposition Whip> Opposition Reply (OR) > Government Reply (GR)
10. The motions selected for this event are based on the relevant issues in the Philippines.
11. The debate moderator will disseminate the motion to be chosen by the participants.
Each team shall decide which side to defend, and give time to plan and craft
constructive speeches for fifteen (15) minutes. During the preparation, debaters are
allowed to use gadgets or notes for research purposes. Once the debate session goes
on, all gadgets are strictly prohibited. Once the opposing teams have decided their side,
they shall go to seat with their identified role.

12. All teams’ attention will be called to start the debate session within five (5) minutes.
13. While exchanging rebuttals, points of information (POIs), and points of order (POs), it
is strictly prohibited to use foul words and throw personal comments or attacks to the
opposing team to secure formality and respect with each other’s views. Intervention
from the class advisers during the actual debate competition are prohibited.
14. Any violation of the guidelines and mechanics will be grounds for disqualification.
15. The winning team will be identified during the Finals; at the same time, they will
represent the school for the Invitational Debate Tournament to happen on September
29, 2022. Awards will be given to the Best Debate Team and the Best Debate Speaker
based on the criteria for judging:

MUSICAL PLAY (JHS AND SHS)


General Guidelines:
1. Participants must be a bona fide JHS and SHS students of Brokenshire College Inc.
2. Students will only be allowed to participate if they have completed the registration.
3. Each team must submit at least TWENTY-FIVE (25) name of their participants on or
before September 16, 2022. Failure to submit by then will be grounds for
disqualification.
4. The facilitators will provide the list of musical plays to be chosen by the participants
through draw lots. It can be originally composed or they can copy and adapt (e.g., High
School Musical)
Event Mechanics:
1. Participants must be a bona fide JHS and SHS students of Brokenshire College Inc.
2. The language of the music play should be in English
3. The musical play should include instrumental music as background. No lip sync is
allowed during the musical play.
4. Props should be free from sharp materials to avoid accidents e.g. (knife, ice peak, etc.)
5. Use of props will be allowed as long as it will not cause any delay in the performance
and those that may harm the performance of other groups.
6. Musical play should be in the minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 10 minutes-
preferrable the casts should present a striking scene or shortened play (including the

preparation before the musical play – assembling the props on stage and after the play-
taking out the material.
7. The participants should sing in acapella (they can bring their own mic or voice amplifier
to make their voice audible). Background music and/or instrumental music should be
provided by the participants.
8. You may used original composed song or adapt the musical play that you can find.
9. Upon submission of the results to the committee, judges’ decision shall be considered
final and irrevocable.
10. This event will choose 4 winners: 3rd Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up, 1st Runner Up, and
Champion.

1. The participant shall be a bona fide JHS and SHS students of Brokenshire College, Inc.
2. Each participant should impersonate any famous national or international personalities
(actor, actress, musicians, and the like) that is desired to be achieved.
3. The participant may sing, act, or dance, depending on the person he/she portrays.
However, stunts are strictly prohibited to ensure safety.
4. Upon submission of the results to the committee, judges’ decision shall be considered
final and irrevocable.
5. This event will choose four (4) winners: 3rd Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up, 1st Runner Up,
and Champion.

General Guidelines:
1. Participants must be bona fide students of Brokenshire College Inc.
2. Students will only be allowed to participate if they have completed the Registration
Form.
3. Each team must submit ONE OR THREE (1 or 3) names of their participants on or
before September 12, 2022. Failure to submit by then will be grounds for
disqualification.
4. This contest is a pre-recorded therefore, they should submit their video and lyrics before

Event Mechanics:
1. The song composition must be the original composition of the participants.
2. The song must also revolve around the “Embracing Artistic Expression through
Effective Communication in the Modern Times”
3. The lyrics of the song must be in English language and may be accompanied by any
musical instruments or apps.
4. The song should not be less than one (1) minute and not more than three (3) minutes.
5. The participants should also send written version of the song in a PDF format
6. Send your soft copies and filmed videos in the group chat Messenger for ComArts Pop
Song Writing and Google Classroom.
7. Participants are required to film themselves singing their own composition.
8. The filmed videos must be submitted on or before September 27, 2022. Take note that
the participants should be seen in the video
9. The best composer will be recognized on this event. At the same time, this event will
choose four (4) winners: 3rd Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up, 1st Runner Up, and Champion.
10. Upon submission of the results to the committee, judges’ decision shall be considered

1. The facilitator will be reading the topic/question twice. The bell will ring once when the

them.
3. Three minutes is the given time to all of the participants in delivering their speech.
4. This event will choose 4 winners: 3rd Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up, 1st Runner Up, and
