and jobs while avoiding manpower shortages or surpluses.

Organizational development can be defined as an objective-based methodology used to initiate a change of systems in an


Organizational Development entity. Organizational development is achieved through a shift in communication. Communication is defined as
transferring information to produce greater understanding.

Selection in staffing is the part of the recruiting process that deals with choosing an employee to hire from among a

Training and development involves improving the effectiveness of organizations and the individuals and teams within them.
Training & Development Training may be viewed as related to immediate changes in organizational effectiveness via organized instruction, while
development is related to the progress of longer-term organizational and employee goals. 

Compensation and benefits is a sub-discipline of human resources, focused on employee compensation and benefits policy-
Compensation & Benefits making. While compensation and benefits are tangible, there are intangible rewards such as recognition, work-life and
development. Combined, these are referred to as total rewards. 

An employer-sponsored employee assistance plan (EAP) is a work-based program that is designed to intervene


Employee Assistance when employees are experiencing personal problems that may be affecting their performance at work, specifically, marital,
financial or emotional problems, family issues, or substance abuse.
